My uncle was a member for decades. His brother mentioned how he was involved. I asked my uncle about it and he gave me a scripted response. My uncle always told me everything. Really weird that he was mum on this. He passed away last year. He gave a grandson his masonic ring and the lodge paid his funeral in full. Even had a masonic coffin. I grew up across the street from a bachelor who lived with his dear sweet old mother. He drove a schoolbus in our very small town, and he also did all the video recording of our high achool athletic events, and set up the sound equipment for our fall festival and other big to-do's in our small town. He always had a cadre of adolescent boys who helped with these projects. He was also a leader of the local Demolay outfit. Many years after we moved away from this small town he ran into a bit of legal trouble. It turned out that he had a side hobby involving his video recording equipment. It also involved the adolescent boys he knew from school and Demolay. He spent many years in prison and got off easy IMO. It's very disquieting to think that i lived the first 12 years of my life across the street from this guy and everything that went on in his basement workshop/dungeon. The secrets of Freemasonry only come to those who do the work. You can't read them from a book, bideo, etc.. If you don't do the work, there is no secret to be learned, nothing to be gained. Read all you want, watch all the videos, but the real secrets are only unearthed by those in the brotherhood doing the work.. Unfortunately, there are lots of brothers not doing the work these days, but I do sense a change as younger men with inquisitive minds and a passion for learning are joining more frequently.

She said Dad asked her, and my other Sister, to pick a good toy to have him take as a helping present for this member's family who lost all. Thank you, this is very informative and well organized. My father was a free mason for quite a long time but I never understood what it really was and he never elaborated upon it. The symbol with a G in the middle is vividly in my memory, he had a ring with a blue stone bearing that symbol in the center. I find it interesting considering my parents are from Bosnia/Croatia and catholicism is prominent, especially in my family yet free mason beliefs are incompatible and a grave sin according to the church. Considering his quality of character in my youth, I don't have a good impression of what he actually learned from the lodges he attended. She wanted me to become a mason. My best friend of many years had been a mason, but was convinced that no Baptist could also be a Mason. They claimed that Masonry was begun by the masons that built Solomon's temple. They do mention Biblically historical names in connection with that. What I found out years later from Christian author dave Hunt was that the highest level Of Masons and Rosicrusians unite in the high occult Golden Dawn society. I had been a member of the Rosicrucian society and read several of their books in the "70s. I left that occult society when I became a Baptist believer a decade later.

I'm still confused about a lot of the secret order stuff, and for some reason, as a Christian (a Lutheran), I feel like God is wanting me to be aware of them - while strictly avoiding them. I think masonry is about building temples, especially one built without hands and not a sound heard. I think the symbols are for that purpose, but i do not belong to any masonic lodges, so i would be what he called a cowan. I have great grandfathers who were masons, possibly others in the past. One quit in his old age after he became a Christian, and warned me not to join. He gave me an old book written by an ex 33rd degree Scottish Rite member. I read it and it was interesting. Basically it said the masons are actually satanic. My great grandpa was a past Worshipful master of the blue lodge, and knight templar, plus he was in Demolay as a young man. He had regalia, member ring, and many certificates he showed me. He said the masons are actually anti Christian, but most dont know until you get deep into it. His life long friends and members no longer would talk to him after he left. Ive always had an interest in freemasonry since I was a kid and so ive researched the organization for years. I dont see much wrong with it, except for a few reasons. They teach religious indifference or universalism, anti christian rituals with blood oaths, and are too strict on who can join, keeping out many would be members due to any kind of criminal record and they keep secrets that arent worth anything. Otherwise they are great lol.

It's up to each mason how far they are willing to go in sharing information. There are a handful of things that are out of the question to share. Like the handshake and other things that can identify you as a mason to other masons. Most of the other stuff isn't even secret. Can't discuss what was discussed in lodge, but some masons are okay with sharing some of the allegorical values you can take from the knowledge learned. Some like to keep that secret too. Worst case he says I don't want to talk about it.

Not quite accurate David. If a brother falls into wrong doing a Mason is directed to assist in its alleviation. So a Mason, knowing of wrong doing is required to not only "dob" in the wrong doer, but also to help him through his trauma, to continue to love him, but hate the wrong doing. In no place is a Mason told to shield a wrong doer from the processes of the law.

What I find intriguing about this man's detailed exposition of free masonry is the repeated tendency to associate free masonry to socialism, communism, or the left. But freemason count among their members large number of early physiocrats, market liberals, and especially "progressive liberal" views that formed the basis of the french revolution. Freemasonry need to be secret because the liberalization of society: secular ethos, individualism, unfettered markets, western informed human rights, supranational governance bodies, etc have gained traction in most parts of the west as the "better way". If anything it's all a slow process of conditioning. On this path I doubt the children of posterity would find the values of freemasonry alarming if it flowers in to fruition, save those of a certain moral bent whose values would be foreclosed not by force but the sheer power of these powers that be to define "progress, rights, freedom" and many will flock to it by inertia or been educated to do so. If the powers in society determine that piracy is the best form of society, its a forgone conclusion that many will strive to be the best pirates.

I have read of a case where a judge in a child custody case in court saw the father give the freemasons' sign of distress, and immediately wouldn't accept any evidence from the mother. He ruled against the poor woman who lost her child. Before you ask, this wasn't on an anti-freemasonry site, it was on a site for lawyers. It worries me that in my own city there is a lodge for judges and lawyers and according to a list of names I found on a journalist's report 2016, two judges were enrolled there. Freemasons are pledged to help each other, aren't they?

Wait a second, what he's saying about American Masonry being split into four "jurisdictions," ie F&AM or AF&AM, etc, is completely wrong on a factual level. The slight variations in naming conventions are mere stylistic differences (originally reflecting a rift in the GL of England in colonial times, as the narrator mentions), they're not separate "jurisdictions." The statement also implies that there's some sort of Masonic jurisdiction above the state level (otherwise how could state grand lodges belong to one of these supposed jurisdictions?), which is simply incorrect. In regular Masonry in the US, there are 50 state grand lodges and one for DC (not counting territories), and that's it, there's no national GL. That means that there are 51 jurisdictions in the US, not four. Some state GLs style themselves F&AM, others AF&AM, but it doesn't matter; they're all part of the same organization, and I have never seen any distinction made between GLs with different naming conventions.

The USA has always been a bit of a "full-on" place and those that are not "full-on" are dragged along with the times. There's a great deal of Wikipedia-research level misinformation here. For example, the idea that the US is divided up into jurisdictions of Freemasonry based on the "AF&AM" vs "A&FM" designation is nonsense. There is a completely autonomous and sovereign Grand Lodge per state in the US (in many parts of the world it's by country) and there are a few other systems at play as well. There are some Women's Grand Lodges and also a few French-style Le Droit Humain Lodges that operate under foreign dispensations, and there is the Prince Hall system of Freemasonry that descends from the historically segregated "African Lodges" that are now the continuation of the traditions and culture developed in those Lodges. But none of this has to do with the letters after the name which have more to do with how the particular Grand Lodge was formed.

I've seen many documentaries and shows regarding the Free Masons and think the one sentence in this documentary sums it up well, "it's not one thing but many things". In my early teens, I was part of a group that was associated with the Free Masons which were called the "Rainbow Girls" which, if the individual wanted to continue in this "club", would be granted entrance into the "Eastern Stars" (which were the female counterparts of the Masons). I didn't stay long in group, I really didn't understand all of the symbolism and references so I left after about a year. Having been in it for such a short period of time, I can't recall much of my time spent with the group. The counter group for teenage boys was called the "Demolays" who would be granted entrance as a Mason when they reached adulthood. I've never seen much mentioned about these other groups associated with the Masons but would love it if someone did a documentary on it.

My dad and grandfather are Freemasons. My best friends grandfather was also a Freemason and a Shriner. Some of my coworkers are Freemasons. The Freemasons grill burgers and hotdogs at town events. I have no idea what they do. Only thing I know is they do help the community with fundraising, and apparently they all go to church and are generally considered upstanding citizens. I have no idea where or why they became affiliated with conspiracy theories or Satanists. And because it seems to matter these days, they are all very conservative. I can't get much information from them other than "we are very centered on helping our community. We are Christian based and share traditional values". So there ya go! That's from someone who is directly connected to someone who is a Freemason. Also I was told a Shriner (the old men that wear the funny hats and drive tiny cars in parades and have a children's hospital) must be or have been a Freemason to join.

That day, I emailed my local Masonic Temple here in the UK, and within an hour I had received a reply back inviting me to take a guided tour of the Temple building. I had no idea if I knew anyone who was a Freemason as nobody had spoken to me about it. My paternal Grandfather was a ‘Buff’ (Buffalo?) which is a similar organisation more involved like a Rotary Club (he passed when I was 7 years old so obviously could not understand much about it!) & that was about as far as I got when it came to these fraternities. When I attended the private guided tour of the local Masonic Temple, I was literally gobsmacked at the architecture and decor of the building. It was literally like a museum with marble sculptures & ceiling murals that would not have looked out of place if told been done by Michelangelo himself! I was not placed under any pressure at all by the Lodge Secretary who was showing me around. I was shown the main rooms of the Temple including the room where all the rituals take place. As I am physically disabled, I was asked if I would be able to get into positions required to take the rituals etc, and I was told that if I could not, then it could be worked around so I was not in any danger of causing myself harm. I was told about the social events that each lodge holds frequently and how I would be expected to dress for these events along with what I was allowed to talk about both inside and outside of the Lodge events regarding Freemasonry. Basically what the narrator of this video says, is exactly what I was told (my meeting etc was around 2016-2018 from memory). I was informed at the end of the tour that my name and interest in joining would be bought up at the next Lodge meeting, and as long as I did not get a single ‘Black Ball’ (has to unanimous acceptance by the Lodge members), I would be invited to join. A few weeks later, I received an email from the Lodge saying that I had been accepted by the other Brothers of the Lodge and that the Lodge I had been assigned to would send 2 of it’s senior Brothers out to my house for a sit down ‘formal’ interview so they could find out more about me and my interests, along with the reasons why I wished to become a Freemason. I was surprised to recognise one of the Brothers that came to do the interviews and I had no idea he was a Freemason even though had known him for over a decade through another person (who I believe is also a Freemason but he has never admitted it to me when I have asked him!). To cut a long story shorter, I was accepted into the Lodge, but my application had to stop there due to my health as well as the annual membership fee (which I am not going to say how much it is/was out of respect) and the cost of the frequent dinner events. The invitation to join is still on the table should I wish to join some time in the future. I was surprised how open everything was to me as someone that had emailed the Lodge without any invitation from another member or recruitment drive. All of my questions were answered honestly and they do not deserve the reputation that people give them as a secret society that worships Satan etc. All that they ask is that you believe in a Higher Power, thats it. That could be a God, deity, father, grandfather, etc or even a cloud in the sky. My personal thoughts are that Freemasonry are a group of people that get together socially, perform some amateur dramatics in the rituals and hold regular dinner parties, all in the aim of helping out others who are less fortunate through charity. Nothing untoward or anything (although some my try to use it to garner a better life for themselves, but it is frowned upon to use connections within Freemasonry to better yourself financially & a brother could actually be expelled for doing so!
