I will never get over how absolutely brain dead some tourists are. I used to take my horses to Horseman's Sunday in Hyde Park, I can remember two incidents particularly, one when an Eastern European man tried to put his toddler up behind me when I was riding my particulrly excited 4yo PRE, he could not understand why I shouted NO as he wanted to take a picture! The other one was a Japanese tourist standing right at the foot of the ramp as I was bringing down my horses, again I had to shout at him to get out of the bleddy way! I feel for these horses and their riders.

These horses come from Ireland. They go over twice a year to select candidates. The horses are Irish Draught, Irish Draught/thoroughbred cross. Beautiful animals.

Take the horses out slowly. Give them time to adjust after standing during the journey. Dont rush them. They need time to find their walking legs again. They and soldiers slip on the cobblestones.

Two suggestions: 1. Have police keep people back. While unloading, especially Children and those in strollers. Parents putting children in Harm's way is unacceptable. 2. Make sure there isn't any water on the cobblestone where horses walk through. Some have slipped. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Just saying....

Agreed ... yet the police are there dealing with traffic, there are a hoard of troopers bustling about and Corporal of the Horse and people still don't understand that 680 kg of horse in motion is potentially dangerous and standing back should be far back.

I was watching " emergency 999" or something similar on TV , And while her mother's back was turned for just 1 second, a little 2 year old girl ran out of the kitchen and into the field of race horses that they owned, the mother said she heard a really strange noise, then realised her daughter was out and went to investigate. She found her daughter lying on the ground unconscious & bleeding from the head and face. She was airlifted to hospital where it was found she had a skull fracture that went all around the base of her skull and was bleeding from the ears and nose . Her mother fainted and her father was inconsolable at his only daughter's hospital bedside , her brain was swollen and bleeding and she spent 5 days in intensive care where she eventually regained consciousness, but the staff didn't know if she'd be permanently brain damaged . Fast forward 1year......she made a full recovery and can't remember a thing about the accident, the TV show, showed her wheeling her little wheel barrow full of hay up to the horse's stables at home, and lifting some hay up for the horse so it could reach her little pile of hay while she proudly stood back to watch this one horse eat. She had so obviously been drilled on horse safety as the horses were locked behind their stable doors and the little girl made no effort to touch them whilst she giggled & stood back proudly to watch this one horse eat the hay she'd put out for it. That very scene had me in tears, that precious little girl could be dead, she was the cutest little thing I'd ever seen, so obviously the pride and joy of mum and dad, and to think their lives would've been destroyed if this little girl had died. So this is a lesson to be learned, to all those who are so careless with their youngsters around horses. This little girl was kicked in the head within seconds of running from her mother's kitchen, so imagine not knowing if your child would survive after a horses kick. This little girl was lucky, her family were lucky albeit traumatized . Luckily this little girl had no memory of the accident as she could have been traumatized for life too, but not all children would be that lucky. It's not the horses fault if something or someone spooks them. I just needed to share this as this particular incident has stuck in my mind. Her mother was not to blame, she said she'd always been so particular in keeping the horses safely out of her child's way. But one split second when she had turned her back on her daughter in the kitchen not realising the back door was open resulted in this near fatal accident . I can't believe how others look as if they're literally feeding their children to horses, they should be made to watch that particular program.

The bangs were not the horses kicking. In transit some horses lean against the partitions making them difficult to remove without hammering the restraining pins out. These pins hold the partitions between the horses in place preventing them injuring one another.

Good for horse. They need to rope off the horse & guard by extend area 6 ft out. Signsshould say " NO TOUCHING the HORSE or GUARD" under PENALTY of ARREST" on BOTH SIDES of Royal Guard & horse. No exceptions! There should be on the sidewalk approaching the area Photo of Guards & HORSEs with RED CIRCLE & RED LINE through it. And INTERNATIONAL SIGNS saying the same in J, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French etc etc
