Great video! I have question.. can you do it without a stem riser? I really don’t want to gain anymore height then what it already has or if I have to use the stem riser can I use it and still have the same exact height?

So I don't know how far you pull up stem but remember you dent have to pull out all the way... In fact I did this both for extra hight and so could leave more Rod in main stem for stability. You certainly can use a shorter riser but you want that conversion size is main reason.

Dave's World I literally pull it up all the way until the lines show then lower it to the lines lol.. but it’s perfect height for me.. but if your saying I can gain stability at my ideal height seems like a better option.. thanks for clarifying. Waiting for that shim to be available.. literally ordered everything on that list.. thanks

Thanks for watching and support and was glad could help. I love tinkering and I proving where I can like the video on shocks and this. I don't think you can get full extension even with riser due to wire length anyway so win win for you. Keep me updated on how it goes. Side note I love these new bars, not as quick to pop down but very stable and zero movement.

I will be chaning the handlebars soon myself. The video will help out. I just want steady handlbars. Thanks.

Were the wires long enough to reach the new riser height and new handle bars for a comfortable ride and fold away?

seems not , i was wondering too.

I tried the mod, and the wiring doesn't let you use the full height of the extended stem. When the wires stretch is maxed out, you get a few more inches which still helps.

Hey, so I went ahead and bought everything on the list. I put it all together, riser, stem, and all and the riser seems to have trouble gripping the bar. It slides and turns when I move the bars around and doesn't seem too safe to use. The stem worked fine. Any reason why this riser is giving me trouble? I got the shim on there. Thanks

If I remember correctly I removed the spreader part and flipped upside down.

Hey so I'm 6 foot tall. I'll feel more secure and safe when riding this way then previous your saying with this style riser

Hi Dave, I seem to have come into some difficulty with the mod. After successfully cutting off the original handlebars with the pipe cutter tool. I noticed the inner diameter of the pipe, was around 16mm, 17mm. So the expander plugs recommended don’t fit. Just checking I haven’t missed something here I would really appreciate your assistance. Regards, Rich

I thought I showed that issue, if that's the case remove the expander and flip over the cap attached and screw the stem screw into it instead. I appears some of the stems have different inner diameter. If need more help just let me know.

I ran into this same problem, Richie. I don't think it's an issue with inconsistent inner diameters. For this particular expander plug, there would have to be substantial discrepancies in inner diameters for it to fit as intended. The larger challenge is that the screw is too long for the stem, so if you want to use the cap on top, you will need to do a few things. First, the only portion you need is the Headset Cap with Bolt. The expander and bottom portion are throwaways. Second, you'll need two washers to create the correct height for the waterproof cap to screw all the way down tightly. It ends up only holding the pieces together and does not add a second layer of retention as implied in this video. It isn't functional for it's intended use, but served to hold the cap in the stem tightly. This is the only part of the video that isn't covered well. Everything else is spot on.

Is there an extension for the cables??
@alfarxastarevalo837410 ай бұрын
So why do u need the extender? Compressing the stem will still feel sketchy since nothing is compressing the extender with the scooter
@harryberry4743 жыл бұрын
I sure would have liked to see the finished product video ended without the project done, curious. Was all the cabling long enough? or did you not account for the extra height with the riser and discover the cables were not long enough and abandoned the whole thing? I looked on your channel and there was no followup video, at least I couldn't find it. While watching assembly you put handlebar on I thought to myself I would have assembled brake handles and everything else THEN put handlebars on the stem/riser...that made me think were cables even long enough. I bet they weren't. I did like that handlebar though. hahaha

Also what was the total cost for all this?

Want to say around 150$ all together. Cheaper if you have the tools already.

If you bought the twist throttle for the remove cruiser, it will not fit on the new handlebar (too loose) because the inner diameter of the xtasy handlebars is wider.
