I’ve always ignored basic sprinklers in every play through. Saw a stardew KZbinr using them and decided to try them out on my most recent play through. Was literally the smoothest play through I’ve had so far, when you’re not spending that early energy watering all your crops every day you can do so much stuff and progress so much further than if you used that energy for crops. Finished the community center on winter 2 year 1 which is by the fastest I’ve done cause I’m lazy and usually end up finishing in year 2 w the cabbage, but since I had so much extra time checking the traveling cart was nbd.

At least for me, basic sprinklers costing iron bars is a lot for how early you unlock the recipe. Now, iron isn't the most difficult thing in the world to farm out in a typical everyday game but sometimes it feels bad to go out of my way getting that much more copper and iron for basic sprinklers I know I will probably replace for quality sprinklers not too long after.

I'm someone that has 20+ quality sprinklers by the 13th of Spring, and then I only have to worry about watering my crops once in summer (When I expand my crops a bit), once in fall (When I expand again) and then once in Spring year 2 and I never touch it again until the next year. I feel the items needed to craft the basic sprinklers are not worth what it gives you. Both the iron bar and copper bar can be used in much better things that make it worth a lot more. Iron bars for kegs, copper bars for tappers (To make an oak resin farm), so, using 1 iron bar and 1 copper bar per 4 spaces watered isn't "worth" it, since, at that stage, farming for those 2 materials takes a lot longer cause you normally only have a copper/iron pick at best.

As a casual player, my issues with the basic sprinklers would evaporate if there were a way to upgrade sprinklers up the next tier with slight resource inefficiency. The two reasons I wait until quality sprinklers don't include not liking the pattern, it's that I actually like watering some amount of crops, and that I don't like spending resources to make a bunch of basic sprinklers that will just sit in a chest somewhere forever once I've gotten quality sprinklers. I have enough problems with getting metals given my difficulties with the mines and my hatred of buying ore.

there is sprinkler upgrades in Qi's walnut room but at that point in the game I feel like everyone already has their farm covered in iridium sprinklers. At least I did

I just thought about what it would take to do that kind of day 1 movement on a controller and realized I'm far too high to understand how fingers work. What I *can* tell you is how the Dualsense crashes the Mobile version in probably 50% of the menus from roughly *any* input that isn't R1/L1 but I can guarantee pressing □/X/Y/LMB in a shop = lmao back to start, and don't even get me started on the autofire ×/A/B/RMB, or the fact that I have to be pedantic and list 4 glyphs per input did I mention I'm too high to understand fingers?
