Mocktails are just fancy drinks made without alcohol. A Shirley Temple is the most famous of the mocktails, since it was made for Shirley Temple so she could have a "cocktail" when she went out to work functions.

The kids drinking the mock tails and you saying about Shirley Temples, that brings back memories. My family went out to dinner together when I was about 7 and my cousin and I both got Shirley temples. I took one sip and went “this is disgusting there’s something wrong with it” my mom takes a sip, there was alcohol. She smelled my cousins drink and could smell it but my cousin and his mom apparently couldn’t taste alcohol, so my 6 year old cousin ended up drunk.
