My brother George was starting at linebacker with Larry Station. We had seats six rows back from the Iowa sideline near the 40 yard line. The most unforgettable game in Iowa history up until the 2015 season, IMHO.I still get chills thinking about rushing the field and finding my big brother in that dog pile.

The field goal at the end will never be forgotten by Iowa fans. The offense to set up the field goal attempt was obviously needed. But none of it ever would have happened if Station didn't get the for-loss tackle on third-and-2. Station's play needs and deserves much, much more attention.

I may be young and stupid, but I'm so impressed at how the camera technology was so good in eighty five to tell whether or not that first Hawkeyes touchdown was successful; regardless of what the on field officials called.

I was 9 when this aired. I loved seeing those standing TE’s for Iowa. Just looked so different and cool at the time.

Remember it from when I was a 15 year old kid, on the radio because I had to chop wood. Felt like I was on the field with every swing. Then my dad saw how I was losing it and I went to watch the second half at the neighbors house. We lost our minds that day. Hayden Fry, along with Dan Gable, was a sports dad for the whole state. They were exactly who we thought they were.

Unlike Woodstock, I can say I was there. It was a misty, crappy day. It was dark and a foggy mist. The crowd went crazy and I was there and loved it!

I watched that game at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids. The place was packed out. It was almost like being at the game. My uncle, first cousin and his brother in law were there with me. They have all passed on. Bitter sweet memories!

@TheHawkeyeHistorian I've always wondered what the game would have been like if that touchdown had been held up. Considering how the Michigan defense had only given up one touchdown so far that year it would have been demoralizing to give one up so quickly to Iowa. It also would have been a bit of a boost for Iowa.

To this day I think the spray of water Helverson kicked up both distracted and confused the official. He probably thought the spray of water came from the end line.

@TheHawkeyeHistorian Would that play have been overturned? Possibly, but the initial ruling WAS incomplete. And though it appears he was in, not sure if they would have overturned it. Example-yesterdays game. Sure looked like Michigan scored at the end, and it wasn't overturned. The play I will always remember, and I wish you had it in here, was Brad Cochran's dropped interception, which would have probably sealed it for Michigan.

Are you serious? It would have absolutely been over turned. It wasn't a matter of whether or not he got his foot down in bounds because his foot was touching the ground from the moment he caught the ball. All they needed to decide was whether his left foot was in bounds from the start, and with instant replay, that was very easy to see.

Back when Iowa was fun to watch. Don't get me wrong, I think Ferentz is doing a good job. But Hayden Fry teams were FUN to watch.

Iowa never scored a touchdown in this game, not officially, but there was not doubt about the Wolverine touchdown. Iowa wins on 4 field goals against a touchdown and a field goal. They go to the Rose Bowl and get blown out by UCLA, but Michigan beats Nebraska and ends up No. 2 in the country.
