Sums it up that a farmer would protect his tractor bonnet but not his head. It's not so much bits of hedge the window guards protect you from, it is a flail coming off that will kill you. But hey who wants to clean mesh out? Poly will cloud if left forever in the sun, but taken off each season and stored not so much. poly can also be buffed back if it clouds.

I for one like your bonnet guard, does the job and once bolted up looks good plus shaped to tractor. Be good to sort a door/window even if it is weld mesh that needs clearing at times, I know a contractor that hit some old barbed wire grown into a hedge , a 2 or 3" long piece of barbed came through the side and straight into an eye. Was not a good outcome.
