It’s actually crazy: of everyone at the “I hate Blitzo” party, Blitz is the one who hates him the most 😭

7:10 love the fact that they included one of Brandon Rogers' characters in the episode and of course have him voiced by Brandon as well haha Grandpa is absolutely iconic 😂

That part where Blitzø goes to touch Stoliz and the background music says, "don't touch that pretty thing" kills me every time.

the amount of symbolism in this episode is insane! - Blitz showing up to a "Blitzo Hating Party" Himself. - The broken heart on the wall behind Verosika and Blitz during their argument. - Blitz being given a "bleeding heart" as a cake from Verosika.. Its so damn good!
@Nitrinoxus7 күн бұрын
One more layer of symbolism: the slice of cake Verosika gave Blitzø evokes the phrase 'eat your heart out', meaning to pine for something _desired_ but lost or unattainable -- much like Blitzø's relationship with Stolas is at this point.

@@NitrinoxusYeah but based in how the series is heading, Blitz and Stolas will get back together eventually making it not lost or unobtainable.

What the writers are really really good at and what I've actually never seen to that degree in any show or movie is the fantastic dialogue writing. They really achieve to make these conversations feel so realistic and so natural, like something an actual person would actually say in these situations. A lot of times when watching something I'm thinking to myself that the stuff actors or characters say feels so fabricated and weird and that no one would actually talk like this IRL but with Helluva Boss they really have this level of authenticity down. Then pair this with fantastic (voice) actors and it's literally perfect

I played the outro song on repeat for a while because it reminded me so much how I felt when younger and dealing with failed relationships that meant something to me.

This episode really was another Banger and just hitting hard on the character drama. I'll also point out that old guy Chris laughed at. That's actually a Brandon Rogers character. He just names him Grandpa, it's one of the many characters he uses in his own video comedy sketches. He actually made a great little one on his own channel called "Blitzo vs Grandpa", I think you 2 will love it if you haven't seen it, stuff like that has been his bread and butter long before he got involved in Helluva boss.

One more pile of thoughts and observations copied over from my earlier viewings, because *_man_* did I spend a lot of time thinking about this episode afterwards: - The first scene was a roller coaster in itself, as much a mix of steps forward and back as everything else in this episode. Both Blitzø and Stolas did _so_ much better at communicating with one another, and at correcting their own failings in the process -- Stolas was able to express his feelings clearly and stand up for his own boundaries, and even though it took a lot of pushing, Blitzø _actually _*_admitted_*_ to his self-loathing_ and copped to the fact that he's no good at talking things out... but then they both kept falling back into their self-defensive bad habits, Blitzø pushing when he should've backed off and Stolas backing off when he should've pushed, and things boomeranged _right_ back to where they started. It's true what they say: hurt people hurt people. - The break-up dynamic in this episode actually feels _more_ authentic than most fictional breakups in media. In my own experience, at least, it's more common for both parties to 'take a break', putting their relationship on hold for however long they feel is necessary to figure their shit out -- that's the vibe I got from Stolas in this episode, that he wants Blitzø to step away and leave him alone until they can both say for certain what they want and need from their relationship. (Unfortunately, while Stolas has that level of emotional maturity and self-awareness, Blitzø's not there yet.) - The reveal of Martha and Miss Mayberry was thoroughly unexpected, but a welcome surprise. It might be risky to make paying a visit to IMP's targets a regular fixture of the after-mission routine (Sinners _are,_ after all, _stronger_ than Imps and _much_ harder to kill a second time), but hey, it could be a nice touch if they try it. - Blitzø's repeated attempts to try to find the words to express how sorry he was to Stolas illustrate as clearly as anything how much Blitzø actually _does_ regret what he said and did. It's been discussed before that he's self-taught when it comes to writing, so drafting up apology texts is likely a challenge for him -- but he doesn't go through that kind of hassle for people who aren't worth it to him, and he clearly felt like he needed to do _more_ than just _write_ an apology. Blitzø's going to more trouble to make amends with Stolas than he's done for just about anyone else. - The jack-o-lantern Blitzø ran over was a reference to 'Holidaze', one of Vivienne Medrano's older animation projects. Might be worth a watch! - As much as Stolas _really_ doesn't want to be around Blitzø for the time being (and understandably so, honestly), it's pretty clear from his visible discomfort at the overt animosity aimed at Blitzø at the party that _he doesn't _*_hate_*_ Blitzø._ He's _hurt,_ and he wants _space_ and the time to _heal,_ but it's not hard to see that he's still willing to let Blitzø _earn_ another chance. - The costumes and decor at the party are chock-full of jokes and references. I have to give points for the Alex Brightman-inspired Beetlejuice costume, that was an excellent touch. - Blitzø has probably _never_ had as clear a demonstration of how badly he's broken someone's heart as he got by being in the audience for Stolas's song. Stolas was absolutely speaking from the heart, broken as it is, sharing his feelings in a way that he's likely never been able to before -- keeping his eyes closed to keep his anxiety at bay, he was able to help Blitzø see clearly what he really meant to Stolas... and just how _severely_ his actions have messed up Stolas's headspace in a cycle of 'what-ifs' and self-blame (even as Stolas himself was realizing the ways _he'd_ screwed up). For the first time, Blitzø realized how much he'd fucked up, and it _hurt him._ - The liquor-soaked talk between Blitzø and Stolas was *_exactly_* the talk they _needed_ to have the other night, and while it _sucks_ that it's literally a day late and a dollar short, the fact that it was said is a *_major_* first step in both of their journeys to healing. And honestly, Blitzø made some _really good choices:_ he allowed Stolas space, let him take the high ground in the conversation, allowed him to speak without interruption, recognized that Stolas was likely _not_ in the right space for physical contact when he was breaking down (which is *_HUGE,_* and something _so_ many people get wrong!), and when there wasn't anything left to say in the moment, _he let Stolas go._ He's _genuinely improved,_ even if he doesn't _realize_ it yet. - This episode recontextualized a _lot_ of things about Verosika's earlier appearances, but one of the big ones might be her previous mention of Barb, Blitzø's sister. We know they crossed paths in the rehab center, and it seems likely they'd each find out about the other's experience with Blitzø (Barb has the same mark on her forehead that her brother does, and Verosika had his name tattooed on her upper arm); the two of them bonding over the pain they've experienced thanks to Blitzø might've given Verosika the idea to host these parties to help other people he's hurt, and even if Barb's not attending this year's event, it's worth noting that Verosika's wearing her modified mark in her outfit (the emblem on her left leg is the same crossed-out version of the symbol on Barb's forehead). Visual shout-outs to kindred spirits seem like her style, considering she chose to _modify_ the tattoo rather than _remove_ it -- anybody who realizes what it means is probably someone who could use an invite to the next party. - Blitzø's talk with Verosika was the best way to cap off this episode. The party being a form of group therapy, Blitzø's admission that he _realizes_ he's screwed up, is _genuinely_ sorry for it and _wants_ to be better, Verosika giving him unironically good relationship advice despite everything he's put her through (and calling him 'Blitzø' for the first time) before giving him an 'eat your heart out' slice of cake and heading off to start a song about how, even if she's not over what happened between them, she's gotten over _him..._ as bittersweet as the ending was, it's a perfect denouement.

This episode I remember was a favorite of some of the people responsible for stuff, can't remember who. As another pointed out, the symbolism in this episode was amazing! My personal fave, when Blitz and Stolas were sitting on the couch talking after he sang his song, Blitz started reaching toward his back, possibly to comfort him or just to show affection. In the background music the lyric plays "Don't touch the pretty thing..." Blitz then hesitates before Stolas sits back up and tells him off more. 17:00 in your reaction it plays. The music has been banger after banger for me for a while, but the 2 in this episode are close to my favorites.
