Kris was always too humble in the midst of the greats such as Johny Cash. What he didn’t realise is that we all saw Kris as equal to the ‘greats’. He is a raw, visceral and guttural singer. One of the greats.

@@jonathantaylor6125 --Waylon took charge and basically became the MC/comedian, in addition to performing. Kris did look somewhat in awe of the others, who were much bigger stars in terms of being country performers. I had tickets to see Johnny in 1998 but that was the tour he cut short due to illness and, to my knowledge, he never went back on the road. I got to see Possum (and saw everyone hooting and hollering for every part of the show ... except the three and a half minutes of "50,000 Names" when it was dead silent). I saw Merle and watched his backup singer get a bigger ovation than any backup singer ever when she sang "I Want To Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart." I happened to be hanging around in downtown Denver one evening when someone randomly handed a ticket to see Don Williams. I was so taken that I went to see him three more times on various tours. Don Williams occasionally complained about the altitude. Possum did too. And then there was Dolly, who at *cough* years old, performed in an outdoor amphitheater for three hours and never took her foot off the gas.

So nice to see Kris smiling all the way and Willie & Waylon enjoying the song, while also holding up a few chords to play along... And when it ends; simply love the way how Kris places the acoustic guitar back and picks up the electric one, apparently getting ready for the next amazing piece. They all have so much of respect for each other as fellow musicians. So, so, so, beautiful! And I truly wish Johnny & Waylon were with us... RIP.
