@kyle grant Yes, to pay for healthcare. The average middle class tax hike maybe around $3500 to 4000/yr, and prescription drug costs will be capped to $200/yr. On the flip side, there's no premiums (about $5500/yr), co-pays ($500/yr) , deductibles ($2000/yr) or prescription drug prices ($1000/yr) Now, as Andew Yang would say......DO THE MATH
@kendanger68744 жыл бұрын
@kyle grant I am a person who is genetically lucky in that i am skinny and am incapable of gaining wait.... but that is not the case for everyone... claiming that people need to magically be a ertain shape or size "because i did it" is dream logic. Rather than rail against obese people for their choices, maybe target the food industry hiding sugar in literally everything. It is very hard for poor people to feed themselves without waaaay too much sugar in their diet. Have you seen the amount of sugar in ketchup? Also, Americas current system has twice the per capita health care spending of other affluent nations with government healthcare, and those nations deal with obesity problems too
@verilyheld4 жыл бұрын
@kyle grant Funny thing, single-payer healthcare systems worldwide are cheaper than present American system. Citizens in countries such as Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, Sweden, get more and better for their buck than Americans do. A country that claims to be as rich as the USA should not have people rationing their insulin, for crying out loud!
@verilyheld4 жыл бұрын
@kyle grant People become diabetic for many reasons, not only because they eat too much sugar and fat. Furthermore, countries with single-payer healthcare systems have healthier citizens than the USA, and as for the government controlling everything, there's a reason your tap water is (hopefully!) potable. Because city, state, federal governments make sure it is. There's a reason cars today are safer than cars fifty or sixty years ago, because the government mandated safety belts, better glass, better cars! The Cuyahoga river in Cleveland isn't catching on fire again because governments cleaned it up. Yes, personal responsibility does exist. However, what might make sense for an individual is not necessarily what benefits a society. You for instance write your comments using a system created by the government through DARPA. You do so using electricity provided by a collective effort to build dams to provide hydro-electricity. Depending on your age, you may have received the polio vaccine, provided through the government. You rely on police and firefighters to be there when you need them. You are able to read and write thanks to government education. The 'I'm all right Jack' attitude forgets all the benefits you have received thanks to people not having that attitude.

Theorizing: if Warren, Buttigieg and klobuchar dropped out now and stood behind Biden as a unified ticket, they could win. As long as they get perfectly on-message so that all their voters come along (I say Biden because he's the most lively of them... and that's not a compliment. The others could be options). Second thing they'd need to do this week, is hammer down that Bernie neither can, nor intends to, deliver the things he promises. He has no plan to get the votes, and no way to get the money and on design for the systems. Because he's not a social-democrat. He, openly, is a socialist, and that's a whole different set of ideas. Step 3: South Carolina. Biden needs 55-60%, against Bernie 45-40%. Then the momentum will be gone. More so, with those numbers Bloomberg may stay out: he can't afford to split the moderate vote, and can't really hope to win if Biden has consolidated it. Note: not my preference. Just speculating on an enemy strategy. Also not my expectation: given how much the democratic main candidates have messed up so far, we should expect them to keep fumbling. If they stay split at SC... Bernie can bring it home. Get 45% in SC, and even if the others join biden then, a 50/25/25 on super tuesday against bloomberg and Biden should suffice.
