Reuters is reporting the same as The Hill, that the punitive amount has not yet been decided. A quick search shows that the Washington Post, Bloomberg and NPR are also reporting the same. $4 million for lost earnings, $1 million for pain and suffering and punitive damages to be determined separately.

If that is the case that is incorrect. "Pain and suffering" is not part of punitive damages. Even CNN is reporting that any possible punitive damages will be determined later. The jury awarded the veteran, Zachary Young, $5 million on Friday and will next decide possible punitive damages. The two-week trial was held in Bay County, Florida."
