i recommend getting the 1861's with your army points they are invaluable for fredericksburg! i also recommend getting the brigade limit up to 2500 so that you have the option to put afew more troops in there

Thanks for the history of this battle. I grew up 20 minutes from Corinth. The huge significance of the Corinth campaign was that the two railroads that crossed in Corinth were the same width. There were no standards back then for railroads. But the same train could use the Mobile/Ohio railroad as well as the Memphis/Charleston railroad.

Nicely done. I'm in the middle of a blind Major General Union campaign myself (yes I've had several do-overs! Gains Mill took three tries. This game is really hard to play blind.) I didn't like the terrain for flanking. With some artillery bombardment and lots of skirmishers screening the flanks, I opted for a last minute frontal assault. It went smoothly and I finished with a very modest 1,137 casualties (vs about 2,700 for the rebels). I suspect this scenario was setup like this just to help teach frontal assaults in preparation for Fredricksburg (not that I'm about to to assault Marye's heights if I can avoid it!) Well I'm off to Fredricksburg! Looking forward to checking in after to see how you did it.

I've been intentionally playing the battles blind. Well, somewhat blind. I don't go and watch my videos or anyone else's before I fight the battles, but I do at times remember what happened in my previous playthroughs so it's not completely blind. I enjoy it better that way.

I always just used skirmishers to harass from the south and then approach the entrenched positions from the northern forests on the map. Might try it this way around in my current playthrough to see if it works better or not.

You can kill their units, but they never actually die
