My pap pap served in WWII. He never spoke about it. When we would ask him about his service, he should shut us down, sometimes very loudly, that it was none of our business. All we knew is that he served. A few years after his death, I learned from one of my uncles that he had served in the 11th Airborne in the Philippines. I never knew that the 11th had trained at this historic site until I watched this video. I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart and soul, for bringing this to light for me. I have a renewed drive to find out more in regards to his service. I had discovered that most documents in regards to WWII, including enlistment and discharge papers, were tragically lost in a warehouse fire some time ago. All I have are memories and documents now as both nana and pap pap are gone. I again thank you for the wonderful historical videos that you produce.

Thank you so much for helping preserving history, and keeping the memories of all US forces, that went over and fought for our freedom from fascist oppression. Alot of brave men never returned and died 1000's of kilometers from home, and the people they loved. We should always strive to remember their sacrifice and honoring their memory, and what you are doing is helping with that. Sorry for bad spelling, Greetings from Denmark.

I went to Currahee Mountain in November 2020 as my first trip out of my house (besides work) since COVID. I was so excited, being a former paratrooper with several years on jump status, deployed veteran, and fan of BOB. I've always regretted not being born 40 years earlier so I could have trained and deployed with young airborne studs like Dick Winters, Lewis Nixon, and others in the 101st, 11th, and 17th ABN. I was so excited to get to the top of Currahee only to be horrified at the graffiti at the top. I know one thing. Not a single heathen who vandalized Currahee volunteered and signed on the dotted line to put themselves at risk for America, volunteered to go to airborne school, volunteered for an airborne unit, or deployed in defense of America and its allies. Thank you for your work and restoring my faith that there are still good people in America. AATW!

Thank you...Thank you for everything you do to teach about history. It brought tears to my eyes watching the original parts of the bunk houses being restored. I have a bunch of different books about the Band of Brothers and one about after the war. I love history. I am so sorry the disrespect shown to these hallowed grounds. Once again thank you for bring history alive.😎

Been looking for this one!! Great job guys. Sidenote, I got to sleep in the WW2 barracks at Ft Knox when I was in high school getting ready to leave for basic training. You could feel the history there. Was an amazing experience

"History remembers those who rebuilt the world while those who destroy it are lost to the anvils of time." This is a quote that my history teacher had on his board one day. He teaches AP Psychology and AP World History while fighting Multiple Sclerosis. One of the best teachers I ever had.

What a pleasure to watch the clean up, very proud of everyone involved. The building from Aldbourne England mentioned in the video is special and it is lovely to see inside. Wish I was there, but there in spirit. Thank you for the update. Best wishes from the UK.

Those barracks and the ones like them at Harmony Church are called "30 Second Barracks". Drop a smoke, and it all goes up in 30 seconds. My grandfather, father and I all did our training with the 507th. Thank you for doing this and I'm sorry I missed the opportunity to help. Outstanding.

I was in the Army when Band of Brothers premiered on HBO and watching this was awesome. Reminded me of a time when I had never been more proud of my country and to be an American. Everyone, and I mean _everyone_ who was in the Army watched Band of Brothers during that time. It showed us a history we could be proud of and shared experiences to laugh or be solemn over because some things, no matter the difference in time, never change in military life. Watching ya'll scrub and power wash those Currahee rocks clean felt like part of the American soul was being cleaned as well. Thank you for doing this.

RTK. Hi I'm England too. I'm thinking that maybe JD might give thought to "Go Pro- ing" the site. I imagine the "nasties" with their "rattle cans" get there in/on vehicles. From the entrance up to the rocks could be surveilled. Maybe a 24hr set up live stream. Without, of course, informing the miscreants that CCTV has been installed. There may even be some interesting wildlife night time spin off action. JAT.

Made my day, seeing folks from across the country coming together for this restoration effort. My dad would have been very happy with your effort, as he was a member of the 11th Airborne, though gaining his jump wings late, in Japan, as part of the occupation forces. Just this past weekend, I drove past the house he grew up in - could see him standing there, in his uniform. Current owners are taking very good care of the home. I still have his dress uniform jacket and hat.

@@pkm5150 - It’s the Russian word for “adopted”. Part of the meaning pulls from Galatians 4:4-7.
