Hitler's prisons were like Disneyland next to the Jewish prisons in Russia and in the Ukraine. At least in Hitlers prisons there were Olympic size swimming pools, commissaries, brothels, soccer fields, theaters, and prisoners were paid with money to spend. None of that was in the Jewish prisons.

What your commenting on JD is a warning of what can happen again in the United States, people think this past is dead and forgotten, but don’t realize for everyone of those evil men buried there there’s someone now in the present who are attempting to pick up and continue carrying that torch for them, great job on your documentary’s, keep bringing this valuable history as a reminder to never go down that road ever again!

Yes, indeed. It's very frightening that so very many Americans carry so very much hate and violent vehemence against some of their fellow Americans, just the same as the Nazi's, there's no difference between them. Do "the p.r.o.u.d boys" wear brown shirts? bet they hide their cowardly faces.

When I was in France, Belgium & Holland last year, it was eerie visiting the German graves, very cold, very weird, got a creepy feeling seeing all those flat grave stones, some with 2 or 3 under the same stone. Our guide told us the Belgians did not want them buried on their land, but I guess there was no way to get them back to Germany at that time. I also had no idea so many were actually hung/shot after the war. I had only read where many Nazis escaped their death sentences one way or another. Thank you for this great information!

My father was in the 103rd inf div WWII. He was in Patton’s 3rd army, & was also an interpreter. He was in the Battle of the Bulge when he first arrived. One of his final missions was to liberate a concentration camp in Landsberg named Kaufering. It is all but gone now. My daughter visited it a couple of years ago. Not much is left. The people in the area have been trying to completely wipe out any remains of it. Did you happen to go there? The stories my father told us were unimaginable. My dad will always be my hero.

Ordinary Men was one of my assigned books from a college Holocaust class. It was an elective class, but I kept the book. I didn't realize its significance in telling the story until well after college, but I recognized the book as important in telling the story, so I kept it. The Einsatzgrupen were awful people. It's amazing how brainwashing worked on such a large group of individuals, turning them into heartless killers.

Thank you JD very good video. My Dad, a Canadian, went into Bergen-Belsen in April 45 to help liberate it. Never got over what he saw there he said they could smell it for miles before they got there. They made the Germans go through the piles of bodies & some were still alive but they died a short time later. The towns folk denied knowing what was going on so they marched them over to witness the burial. He was in Germany when the war was over & said the German citizens treated them worse than the soldiers.

I had a colleague who'd become like one of those executed at Landsberg if the people behind his radical ideas (environmentalists in his case) ever got into power and he had the chance. He honest to god believed that all those who are not true believers in his radical green ideology should be killed as a start towards depopulating the planet with the end goal of having the population brought down to a few hundred thousand of those "worthy to be stewards of the environment". When Covid started and the death rates were very high initially he was ecstatic, proclaimed for all to hear that "here is Mother Nature saving the planet from mankind".

When society loses faith in liberal values and human rights it is a small step to take. The holocaust is unique in its scale and organisation but whenever a society starts believing there are enemies out to get them and somebody tells them it's okay to take "decisive steps" to counter the threat that's where you end up. Not sure what the significance of this particular symbol is. One of the oldest uses of the cross symbol is the four spokes of the circular zodiac calendar which represent the two solstices and the two equinoxes that mark the changing of the seasons, and the circle represents the path of the sun, moon, and planets through the constellations. Even in Christian iconography you often see the crucifix depicted with a circle centered on the point where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect.

My guess is that the "roof" is mainly to protect the wooden cross from the weather. I noticed that all of the crosses were wooden, which will decay over time due to rain, frost etc; I suspect the "roof" is just there to preserve the cross for as long as possible.

I'm surprised they were buried in a cemetery and not cremated and the ashes scattered as the top Nazis (Goering, Ribbentrop, Kaltenbrunner, et al) were. Especially in a cemetery in the shadow of a chapel, usually considered hallowed ground. I suppose the occupation authorities considered they'd "atoned"by virtue of the executions and gave them proper burials, but that's just a guess on my part. I'll tell you, there's so much evil buried in that cemetery I'm amazed the grass grows.
