There are lots of ways that you can involve yourself in the holidays without bumming yourself out. I think. Look at some of the volunteer opportunities. Yes, you can work at a church and hand out food, but there are other things that you can do all by yourself. Go to some of the few restaurants that are open on Christmas day and just hang out there and sit with people who come in. It'll be singles and couples and have someone come up to them and say hey. Happy to see you. Here you mind if I sit with you would just make their whole day. So don't think that the change in your family dynamic keeps you from being a meaningful participant in the winter holidays

I love the compilation! For me I enjoy a quiet Christmas. This year my wife's family will be at a cabin in the mountains, and I get to babysit the fur babies. It will be quiet, the cats will sleep and the dog and I will play outside. I wish a peaceful Christmas to you all.

There almost needs to be a song about the “experience” of getting a Christmas tree! Putting the tree up (I.e. in the actual stand) after getting it home, is actually the most stressful and crazy part of Christmas for my family at least!! 😂 No idea why, it just has always been that way? Love love love this song though, it’s gonna be on repeat I can feel it already 😍 Great job!!

Yes I use to get my husband and son to come help pick out the tree. That was not fun because they don’t care. So now I go buy it and my husband comes and picks it up. But then we have to do the stand thing and there is lots of cursing involved. Makes a great start to the Christmas season. 🤣

Absolutely marvelous, Nice to hear all of these really Jewish songs once or twice. For Hannukah, this year, it coincided with Thanksgiving, so the family was there, but @#$%, we forgot to light the candles. Everyone was in a food coma, including our daughter's boyfriend, a DOCTOR I'll have you know. Penn -- How about a Passover video this year, one in which the Holdernesses are guests of a Jewish family, but have no idea what is going on. And Penn tries the Bitter Herb (horseradish) and has to run to the kitchen for a glass of wine. And then he discovers that the kids put real wine in their four glasses of grape juice and are giggling all over the place. And the whole family wants the brisket recipe, only the two grandmas won't share it. As an expert in modern Jewish practices (a family friend, by the way, was Harry Golden of the Carolina Israelite). and a former comedian, I hereby volunteer.

Please be glad you have all of those people. I literally have nowhere to go for Christmas festivities…except to my politically opposite parents-in-law. My very vocal parents-in-law who like to “poke the bear.” No work parties, no friend parties (only a couple of friends who live hours/states away), both my parents have passed and I’m an only child. You’re very blessed.

People struggling with this situation need to make sure that they have a “just the two of us” Christmas at least every second year. Go somewhere or volunteer to help out at a community dinner for people who otherwise wouldn’t have any comfort and cheer. Then you’ve got a great reason if you don’t feel able to say that you just want time together. In the time of trump, sometimes mental health breaks from incompatible people are essential.

There are 11 of us that are going to lovingly cram into my mom's 3 bed, 1 1/2 bath home for Christmas this year. And it will be AWESOME (plus a 12th person who has decided to stay in a hotel). We live outside of the US, so are flying in for a week a couple days before Christmas. Some of our relatives we haven't seen in person since Christmas, 2016. There will be SO MUCH togetherness time! That sounds like a lot, but I'm actually pretty excited about it. Just wish our winter break was longer -- we get back home and then the teachers have to be back at school a couple days later. So what I'm REALLY lamenting isn't all the togetherness, but a shortened Christmas break.

I love christmas and that its peoplely. That is the best part, aside from presents :P Also they have oatnog and almond nog now Penn. The oatnog is actually really good. About 30 years ago I bought my husband a wet vac for Christmas and put it under the tree. Lo and behold, an identically shaped box soon appeared right next to it. Yes, he had bought me a wet vac for his shop. Hard to believe. That’s all I got that year. Now I sock it to him throughout the year and buy what I like.
