He knows he can’t rely on NRS to make solid titles, yet he built his channel around MK entries and knows its market overlaps with Tekken (that’s why MK is losing tons of players to Tekken with its release and boosting sales too). Deep down he knows MK is a shit game, but he doesn’t want to offend his fanbase, Tekken’s fanbase, and NRS at the risk of being excluded from NRS events. He’s playing both sides because it benefits him but many people will leave his channel just as they left MK with his shilling and coping. 😂😂 That’s one reason I would never dedicate a channel to a single game or studio, I would niche down or stick to genres to keep variety in the mix. If NRS fumbles MK going forward he will probably be forced to make Tekken 8 his primary fighting game since that’s where the MK players will flock to (some to SF).

Exactly! Part of the reason why I disliked Tekken 4 was that it not only had a smaller roster after TTT1, but the roster left over just lacked the wildness that previous games had. Instead of Mokujin and Jack, we get Combot. We get Nina, but no Anna. We get Kuma, yet no Roger or Alex. Kazuya and Jin are in the game, but Devil isn't playable. I am happy Namco went back to embracing their inner kangeroo and then some.

Tekken is miles better than any other FG on the market today. It's the best is almost every category and has way more modes, features, gameplay mechanics, and literally everything else you can imagine. The devs also actually care about the legitimacy of the competitive scene by listening to what their players want and communicating with them. This is done through frequent meaningful updates and patches from the devs to make sure the game doesn't go stale competitively. They also don't exploit their community with BS microtransactions and overpriced additional corporate cash grab content like other FG do. You just get all those in depth features for free at launch that every other FG would make you pay extra for.

My distinction is I describe Tekken as a legacy game, it's rare they will mix up a character's moveset to a point they feel like someone else (A good kazuya in tekken 1 will likely be a good kazuya in tekken 8, barring learning new mechanics, is my example). MK has a bad habit of upending the whole movesets of characters and making them play and feel very different, so him coming from a background of MK, it makes sense why he thinks Tekken is too complex.

TUD's words about arcade quest is probably one of the worst things there because if you've seen a KZbinr named Maximilian he and many others have talked in detail on what arcade quest purpose is it essentially is a glorified tutorial for newer players entering the game. Its smart and welcoming abd inviting. It gives you so much rewards for playing it and teaches you this game naturally. The fact TUD wants THAT MODE to be a 1 off is fucking stupid to me. That mode has done so much good for gaming and Fighting games like Tekkekn (Virtua Fighter as a example) is very helpful. This Mode and all the features to help newer players get into the series is executed so well. Taking this shit away will hurt Tekken.

It's something every player should do after getting used to the mechanics of the game . You'll have clear answers and solutions to things that may frustrate you by simply knowing frame data . I like trueunderdawg, when he’s on the kombat kings podcast with Sonic and Snake its really enjoyable. But this video just made him seem like a big hypocrite. Calling character endings silly and stupid because they are not canon is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Everything negative he says about Tekken can be said for mk. Character endings in mk games are most of the time non-canon and he has no issues with them. I get it he is a mk content creator. That doesn’t mean he has to try and tear down other much better games to support mk1, one of the worst fighting games of recent years.

It's infuriating how people make seem Tekken this game which requires you to learn fucking everything to be able to play well, which it isn't. I believe, Tekken is one of the more mash friendly games for beginners, even MK1 requires to know SOMETHING to be able to play it normally. And even on intermediate level people can fuck you up by being patient and just having good rhythm, which is brilliant for a fighting game

First off, TrueunderDawggaming lies way too much, none of his videos actually shows evidence of what he is talking about in them only to troll us for views. He sounds like some AI robot. He has broken tons of community guidelines as a community sponsor by not being honest and truthful. I do think its good you are reviewing one of his videos but I feel you need to be more critical on your reaction. If I was you I would make another video questioning his legitimacy, be critical and point out his absurd outlandish talks. He steals other peoples content runs it through Midjourney, Dall-E or whatever in order to call it his own work. Mostly all of his thumbnails are stolen from DYNASTY, even Dynasty has pointed out what he is doing. At this point, I would push for TrueunderDawg to just give up and find a new hobby. This response is a bit long, but here goes: I don't know why TUG doesn't like the more humorous endings when the entire Tekken 8 story is actually quite depressing: Kazuya has revealed his Devil form and starts a tournament that threatens several countries with their destruction, Jin is struggling with his Devil form after he barely manages to save New York, and Heihachi's illegitimate daughter threatens to restart the very familial war Jin and so many others worked tirelessly to stop. Also, I'm pretty sure Zafina and Claudio might be dead by the end of the story mode. Don't you think the player needs some level of reprieve from that kind of story? To outweigh the serious plot wrought with devastation and destruction with less serious and even hilarious endings? The game doesn't need to be serious all the time, you know. Like do we really want to see some serious Marvel movie-level story with characters like Kuma, or Panda, or Yoshimitsu, or Jack? No, because the very existence of those characters would make it too silly to take seriously. It seems even the writers in Tekken's dev team know that, so they take liberties with the endings and make them more enjoyable. Dude is asking for Zack Snyder level endings for Tekken, and I don't know why. It's just goofy. Meanwhile, MK1's attempts at being overly serious actually run counter to the ridiculous levels of violence that the game was known for, which takes players like myself right out of the story. Combine that with the stale and predictable endings, and it's not looking so hot for MK1. I and several other MK1 players simply don't find these stories enjoyable, and evidently, so does TUG, because he doesn't say one good or memorable thing about any of the MK1 endings. Deep down even he knows the story and endings in MK1 are hot trash. That aside, TUG's video was just cap. MK1 is already on its last legs, Tekken 8 is doing far better, and he's attempting to justify why MK1 should still be played. It's such a bad video.

Even the Martial Arts you can ID aren't implemented well at all compared to any grounded character in Tekken. I hate how Mortal Kombat makes its story mode. Its so random and overblown, i WISH it was just, you play as Lui Kang cuz hes the main character of this specific story. I genuinely hate how they force the story to have you play at least 3 matches with every character. Learning the proper punishes in certain matchups, and get up options and frame traps is a whole other beast, but game to game those things change so I wouldn't consider them when you talk about "mastering" a character.

And even if you can use every single move it doesn't mean you know everything about your character as shown by the amount of new things discovered 10 years late with all characters in t7. For a game like street fighter or mk I can see people mastering characters but for tekken I just don't think its really a thing and there is proof of this.

@@WzDk13 I learned every single move on one character, heihachi. He has zero useless moves. Even moves that were deemed useless in the past were discovered to have hidden properties. Now practical for competitive settings probably not, but they still have their use. He even has a counter hit move that crumples that I discovered you can use when you time it perfectly after jumping foward. I mastered that character, I can use his entire toolkit without even thinking, knowing what distance to use certain combos to reach the wall for wall finishers, knowing when to tornado or not to, frame traps, I consider that mastering a character. Now did I master tekken? Heck no, I still have trouble with certain match ups, and I don't know every interaction by heart. I agree there's no such thing as mastering tekken, but mastering a character within the game is completely possible.

If your claiming to of mastered a mishima then you you can do a 14f electric 100% of the time which you already know is humanely impossible so saying you have mastered heihachi is hilarious when I've heard even jdcr say he hasn't. I don't know why but It feels like in the Arcade endings ok MK. The general roster feels like it has gotten overall worse with each new installment. I'm going to reference Jax as he was mentioned in the video, but in MK9 arcade ending he hooked his conscious to Kano's eye implant and fought in a cage match of will with him until Jax won. In MKX when Johnny was hospitalized he accepted Johnny's promise to lead the squad, then protecting them from Erron Black. And then in MK11 it seems they just made him part of the BLM movement while completely disregarding his friends like Sonya, and Johnny who have been there for him. (They even brought him back from his revenant form) EDIT: I'm not saying the MK11 ending is bad because of racial politics I've never said that. What I am saying is that they chose to form him around his race and not the content of his character!

Great video. I enjoyed mk1 for about 2 months, then it got old quick. Tekken 8 is still absolutely amazing. Only thing i would change is replacing the "random" slot with mokujin. It's been a while but if i'm remembering correctly tekken 5 had the dojo modes which were essentially an older version of "arcade quest" just without an over world and avatar, but was required if you wanted to raise any character above max rank to divine fist. (Which was also required 4 times to unlock jenpachi.. at least thats not required this time.. unless we just haven't figured out angel jin is unlockable yet
