My mother worked in a movie theater in LA back in the late 40's. They would have these big premiers and all the people would come out. She said the two nicest people/stars she ever met were James Stewart and Cary Grant. She said other stars would come in acting pretentious and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge the girls that brought them to their seats...but not those two. She said Doris Day was very nice as well.

Cary Grant was, and still is, one of my very favorite actors. (It didn’t hurt that he was a handsome man.) The Bible references often the hope that Jesus shared with everyone that he spoke with. His, Messianic Kingdom, about to take place as stated in the Bible book of Revelation, highlights a time very soon where God will end all corruption and return the entire planet to a paradise earth. In Revelation 5: 3-5, it mentions, no more sorrow, sickness or death. The former things, that mankind has endured for thousands of years now will be done away with completely. I hope that I will be there. Imagine meeting our favorite actors, people of history and our family tree, all the way back to the beginning. Marvelous things are ahead for men of goodwill. We just have to get through the craziest time ever in history. Sickness, old age and suffering must end. We should all want better for each other. No hunger, no wars or poverty. ....... Get close to God while there is still time! The best to you all!!!

My favorite movie star of all time is Gregory Peck. Not far behind is Cary Grant. Two legends from both sides of the Atlantic that made decency and class cool and acceptable. Neither took himself too seriously. As a pleasant consequence everyone took them very seriously. What a far cry they were from the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of today's cinema. Reeking of ego and self love. Cary Grant was critical of anything that would offend an audience. Unlike "Tabloid Tom" and "Brad the Cad," to name just a few. Stars like Peck and Grant embodied everything a film star should represent. Today's narcissists should take a page from their play book.

They really glossed over it in this biography, but the story with his mom is so sad! She had such intense PTSD over having an accidental hand in her baby son's death, that her husband (who was rarely home) had her institutionalized. Archie came home one day and his father told him that his mother ran off and left the family. Archie was devastated, and had real abandonment issues his whole life. It wasn't until his father died that he was informed he was the next-of-kin to his mother who was still in the institution. They talked about how happy he was to find her, which is true.... but she had endured 23 years of "treatments" at this institution, and was never really coherent the remainder of her life. It's such a tragedy that those kinds of unspeakable things happened- and this wasn't that long ago! I think her life was crazy depressing.
@feralbluee4 жыл бұрын
thank you for that information. poor woman and poor little Archie. i’m glad he found her though. they didn’t know much about PSTD or anything for that matter, back then. also, i don’t know when it stopped, husbands could institutionailize their wives for anything - like if they found them too argumentative! thanks for reminding me. Keep safe :) 🌷✨🌱🌼

This is a great bio .. I saw Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in the movie "Charades". The movie kept me guessing to the very end. That was a good action leading role for a man around 60. He played his age up in the movie. He still kept his light-hearted demeanor. I went back to the theater to watch it twice.

And when he gets romantic 💋OOH LA LA !!! HE'S GOT IT ALL ...💌 💕💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💕 😘 Audrey Hepburn is a great actress NOW I'm finally getting to my point It's dumb that I feel guilty but I pretty much hate that movie, I've tried watching it a few times but no... It makes me nervous , she gets on my nerves the way she's hanging all over Cary Grant. I think it's stupid and so many people love it and another one of his is, North by Northwest I think it's called...☹ 🤦🏻🙄😖😬😱😨🙀

Gosh, I loved Cary! I was hooked after watching "An Affair To Remember." I have probably watched all his movies at least 3-4 times. In fact, he owned a home in Palm Springs, Ca which I got to go see since I live 15 miles from there. A friend of my brother knew the woman who bought it so I got to go inside. Good Lord, he was so handsome!! My brother knows his daughter Jennifer so he talks to her every so often!. I will always remember him as the MOST handsome man ever created, his sense of style and comedic acting! God threw away the mold after he created him! The Golden Age of Hollywood was the best ever, full of talented, handsome actors and beautiful, classy women. They don’t make them today like before, that elegant and lovely time is gone for sure. Cary Grant was not only a very classy, good looking man but he was a talented, elegant, suave, charming man with superior acting skills and a true gentleman. Class act.

Very nice run thru of his life. Of course they didn't mention what I have always heard and read, that his film "That Touch Of Mink" was his highest grossing film ever. Doris Day was his insisted upon co-star. It was huge! Also they skipped over his 8 year involvement with Randolph Scott. That was a tough time for both of them when their respective studio's said it's either over or your careers are over. They were highly liked and loved in that business and that they were together. Cary died in Davenport IA. I happened to be there when I heard the news attending a poultry show. I thought what the hell was he doing there?! He was doing his Conversation With Cary show it turned out and he had a heart attack. What a stunningly handsome and unique person he was and is. Doris Day spoke very highly of him as well and that in itself is something.

It would of been Cary Grant playing James Bond along with his own style and humour however there is a dark side to bond and for that reason probably best he didn't. Roger Moore barely got away with it i don't think Cary could of.
@bioshock69354 жыл бұрын
Well there's to sides to that as you know Cary was born in a totally different era to what acting is like today and even in the 80s why he has that charm and charisma that most actors of today don't have that's all long gone today but you could argue if he was born in the right time at the age he was to be in a modern day bond he might not have that charm but could have that type of dark side to bond. Acting has changed now when he was around but still i can see what your saying on the dark side as he was never really portray in that way unless you class as to catch a thief or north by northwest a darker side to him
@JayKirby694 жыл бұрын
@@bioshock6935 Totally agree with you on Cary. He had pure charm but i think that was a natural asset, even offset people loved him i have recently started watching the silver screen due to lockdown and to be honest most films today lack stories and rely too heavily on special effects. I recently watched mr blandings builds his dream house for the first time and it was genius with educated humour which is something else that has become lost. I think my point about Bond is simply Cary grant with a licence to kill? He defo had the looks,charm and was an amazing actor and sure he could of managed the bond girls lol however Cary Grant in all of his films was Cary Grant and that's all he needed to be and what he was loved for.

Cary Grant was undoubtedly one of the best talented movie stars of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He had perfect timing in his delivery and one of the most handsome men walking the earth.
