Wow Robert, just what I needed. I was actually convinced I couldn't find a doorbell that ✔all the boxes so I started looking at video doorstation (like the Dahua VTO2211G-P) but I still wasn't convinced, also the prices for some of those are very high. Also I think I do my research well but your hands on approach buying all those bells and actually testing the features instead of making a review for each bell and reading the specs like most others do is refreshing.

Omg. I just received my pre-ordered Reolink POE doorbell two days ago, I have been waiting for this weekend to do the install. It was the first time I ever pre-ordered and patiently waited for a product and after watching this video I realized it was worthwhile. All my cameras systems are reolink POE, I have them connected to home assistant and everything works flawlessly. Even the current firmware already support pressed button events sent to HA, I have programed the doorbell dign dong sound through my Bose audio system at home via home assistant in addition to the Included chime from reolink.

@Brian Meissen I was initially using the HACS version which met all my requirements with sensors for everything, for people motion, cars motions, doorbell button, etc. Then I changed to new stock integration released this year and found only a handful of sensors for my cameras losing most of my automations. So I went back to the hacs version and that is what I'm using now.

Great video! I have a ton of Reolink and Amcrest products. Re the amcrest bitrate/image quality issue, most of this is fixable by logging into the camera's web based interface. They actually have (at least for the amcrest cameras I own) a TON of image quality settings, including bitrate (of course), and more importantly, shutter timing and HDR settings. By upping the bitrate, using h.265 if available, and adjusting frame times you can really get a much better image. This is specifically how I configured an Amcrest doorbell cam at a relative's house to significantly improve image quality from what was capable in their crappy doorbell app.

For anyone with the AD410, do not use Amcrest Surveillance Pro to make any modifications to your doorbell video settings. It results in a weird flickering, grainy image, and overall lower quality. The only way to resolve it is by resetting the device.
@markgrotte2968

The sharpness on this camera is screwed up. If you use this software it defaults all the image settings back to 50%. Change sharpness to 0, apply, then move it back up to 10 to 15 while testing view. You can eliminate defaulting it this way and still benefit from changing the bit rate, quality etc... to get a much better image out of it.

Important information to make the Reolink work remotely with a VPN: by default the reolink app adds the doorbell based on the 'UID' rather than it's IP address and then it only works using the cloud once you have excited the app and open it again. To make sure you add the doorbell based on it's IP address you need to delete the device if you already added it. Then disable wifi on your smartphone so that you are on mobile data. Then activate the VPN. Then add the doorbell using the option 'input UID/IP' then choose the IP option and enter the camera's IP address.

Sure hope the Reolink PoE is the doorbell many of us have been waiting for. I see Reolink has delayed the rollout to December. No big deal if it delivers. Plenty of folks have homes wired with CAT 5 or 6 at their doorbell locations but have very few doorbell options in the marketplace to pick from. (i.e., finding one that is truly POE as well as being with ONVIF and RTSP compliant, will work with 3rd party NVR's, has a nice smartphone app and will provide all the advantages of a doorbell like Ring... but without a monthly subscription. Past Reolink products have been plagued with problems but I'm hoping they get it right this time. Would be great to see Ring Doorbell get knocked down a couple pegs.

As I run Dahua for my main cameras, I was excited to see a review of their doorbell camera. Followed but gut wrenching disappointment over the lack of clarity in video. I've always been against reolink due to their cloud stance, but this surprised me at their ability to open up locally. Biggest counterpoint I'd make is that you make an assumption that everyone already has a doorbell wired up. But for those of us with older homes, wireless battery doorbells might have been all that were used, so running poe is no different than running a doorbell wire. Unless of course we just go pure battery powered, but those all seem to be cloud only models.

I have both Amcrest doorbells and Reolink cameras and I use RTSP to feed my local Blue Iris system (DVR) for all recording and alerts. I block all outbound, as well as default inbound, from/to my home cameras with my dedicated firewall... you would be amazed just how many times a day each of them try to cloud connect. 99% of all outbound attempts from my home networks come from them... hundreds of thousands of attempts. Careful pruning of rules and flows can re-enable doorbell alerts via their apps if desired, but I do not trust them after looking at what they try to connect to and send. Tip... if you run these doorbells off your house doorbell power, make sure the power transformer is rated to deliver enough (usually located at or near your home electrical panel and stated in VA). I had random issues with WiFi drops and it was due to an underpowered transformer, especially at times the doorbells kicked on IR lights. A quick upgrade and doubling of power to fix.

Ip65 will most likely be needed in places with snow. My doorbell is always covered in snow, so something as big as this will definitely be covered with snow

My G4 pro has survived several snow storms already just fine. I don't have a porch covering so it is exposed to the elements.

the result for me sounds like there is a GAP in the market, none of them make me happy. How hard can it be to put a button on a waterproof camera and enable 2 way audio

Great review. I was also disappointed in the Amcrest AD410. I had two of them fail in direct sunlight…in Massachusetts….in May…not exactly hot weather!

Great review, I previously had Nest doorbell and I just installed the Reolink POE version to go with my Reolink NVR system. After installing it I didn't realize Reolink doesn't have rich notifications which was a big disappointment. I thought about returning it to get the WIFI version but found out it requires cloud subscription like Nest requires as well. But Nest does has the option to operate the existing chime which is great.

I had a chat with an agent at Reolink Support team. They told me that rich notifications (with photo) are available only with Cloud subscription. But this doesn't stop me to have push notifications on my phone (only with words) and I will be able to have 2-way conversation with the visitor (between doorbell phone). Could you please confirm if this works well for you? Thank you!
@TheHookUp
@TheHookUp 11 ай бұрын
That is correct. Only rich notifications requires cloud usage, the rest is done with p2p.

Correct, you will be able to tap the notification wait for app to load then answer doorbell with pre loaded sentences or your voice. @@vorbiskad

My Amcrest mechanical chime integration died recently, it reboots when the button is pressed. Sounds pretty common, i switched to reolink. Reolink app is 10x better than amcrest.

Very good video! I would also be very interested in a comparison between regular cameras that support two-way audio, as there are no such comparisons yet!

I had that Hikvision (actually, the RCA variant HSDB2A, but otherwise same model from what I understand), and it was literally too hot to handle: I clocked at nearing 150 F. I thought it was an obvious RMA but was denied as "it normally runs hot". That is insane and a seemingly massive potential class action lawsuit if your customers homes start burning down because of shoddy engineering, but I could be over analyzing. In the garbage it went.

Unsurprisingly it ran significantly hotter at 24VAC than 16VAC, but yes, I agree... too hot.

I have the Guarding Vision version of the Hikvision, I does get warm, not hot but warm. But research showed as designed, the outer ring is the heat sink, I wouldn’t be supervised I if it doesn’t last way longer than the rest. And at the time it was only one that could do Onvif and existing door bell wiring.

Watched the video and I'm sure that there is much useful info for which those who can assimilate your wisdom at the rate of knots with which it is delivered will be grateful. For me however, a more sloth like delivery of the script would be useful. The current sound track is reminiscent of those "Terms and conditions" statements at the end of "Special Offer Sales" where the reader attempts to expound the content of 4 pages of legalese in 12 seconds!😊

@@TheHookUp Thanks for that info! I'll give it a try. One thing I'm wanting of a doorbell is the ability to create custom MP3 announcements, rather annoyed that Amazon have blocked this facility.😎

Great comparison. It's too bad UniFi's G4 doorbells are IPX4 becauseI really like that the POE model comes with a flush mount chime.

Didn't see it noted but the reolink also supports both 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi.. Which is semi rare for wireless security cameras in general and important for higher bitrates. Sure enough my current doorbell is almost dead and the Reolink doorbells are not in stock.

Just noticed that if clicking the reolink url in the comments the doorbell shows sold out, but if you go directly to the website it’s available.

Nothing new since this video that I'm aware of. Reolink has a battery doorbell coming out this year, but I'm not sure it will compete with these options.

I have an older Hikvision and I hate it, the notifications to phone are slow, the notifications to the screen are unreliable, and really there's no way to catch the doorbell press. I'm waiting for Reolink to be available now...
