Fun fact! That nut is ovular on purpose. It is one method to manufacture a locking mechanism into your nut. They are called "distorted thread" locknuts. A lot of mil-spec and spaceflight style stuff will use them. The main benefit is unlock nylocs, there isn't a secondary locking material that can degrade and weaken over time. The drawback to them is if you have a material mismatch between your screw and nut you will tear one of the two up a lot of the times.
