as someone who built a 540 bigblock 68 k5 blazer i can tell you they are so super sketchy and zack is 100% right about the flex and frame loading up i also left stock brakes at first and that added another degree of sketch.......100% RESPECT THE SEND

The stock brakes are bad enough on my 88 K5 with a new stock tbi 350 and 35" tires and aluminum wheels. The big block just gets you to a speed where you may need those brakes at a faster rate. LOL My 79 C20 is 4 wheel disc and hawk pads, so it stops great, but used to be my daily driver and tow vehicle. It has a well built 406 sbc that should be around 400hp 500+tq, but was built for longevity so it can tow long grades and work as a daily driver for 100k+ miles. The K5 isn't the one I would whip around mountain corners with or do anything risky with handling.

So, I myself have a 1976 k5 and I have a 650 horse bored 402 big block, and rowdy is an understatement. Boom tubes and 6500 rpms straight ripping is ear pearcing. I drive it through town and I’ve had people tell me their windows actually warp and rattle. It blows my 40” tires off no matter what. It’s stupidly amazing and I love it.

Hi Guys, that Jimmy reminds me of my old K5 Blazer ( similar colour too), I rebuilt the little 350 4 bolt main and had a little pocket rocket beater truck (i plowed snow with it). Take the cap off the back and was un-drivable I could do donuts all day, no traction. Thanks for the memories!

I love the 2jz F150 swap, even though good 2jz's are probably getting harder and harder to find i do see people using Fords own 2.7 and 3.5l ecoboost motors for swapping into older f150's becoming more common.
