I hear you, Packy. Just got home from Nationals in Vegas. The best luck I had all weekend was _NOT_ getting stuck on the 15 Freeway, but that's another story. As far as bowling goes, I did not do as well as I did last year at Reno by a pretty long shot. I was missing _easy_ single pin spares because I just couldn't relax and put the ball where it needed to be. I stayed with reactive for team, doubles, and the first two games of singles...SIX games below 150. Went with my Purple Hammer for the last game of singles...219. No idea why I didn't go to urethane before then. I don't have a lot of sport experience, but I went in with a plan. The problem: I didn't abandon the plan when it wasn't working and find a new one. Lesson learned.
@notonyourlife7939Ай бұрын
Don't feel bad, lol...I shot 475/468 in doubles/ singles. I was COMPLETELY lost😂. 587 in team though, and was thrilled. Not sure how I managed it, though... pretty much everybody else did the opposite this year, struggling in team and doing OK in doubles/ singles. It's a weird game...👍

I appreciate that you & Madison keep your journey honest you post the great and the ugly. Way to pick it up at the end. Definitely the hardest part of getting better is not beating yourself when you’re not killing it. Sometimes you win sometimes you learn 💪🏾

I just bowled on this pattern in a sweeper and shot 650 for 3 and was high qualifier and only person to go +. I sanded a hazmat to 1000 and stayed right and stayed forward just like Justin Bohn did at the masters

Man, I love this video because it helps me realize that struggles really do happen. I bowl in two sport shot leagues this summer and I am constantly reflecting and thinking about what I could have done better on the drive home. Last night I bowling on the 2024 Don Johnson. Honestly, I shouldnhave started farther right (righty). I had an okay first game, but really messed myself up second game starting that far left. I ended up moving back right, increasing my ball speed, and flattening my hand out. 201, 148, 227. Good mental notes for the future.

Your explanation of not giving it time and switching things too fast reminds me of Sam Cooley. In his book, he would always write Wait On It!! That is his way of reminding himself to be patient and give it time.

Good one Packy. It shows that you are human. I agree. I learn from my struggles so I can do better next time, or when it matters more. I try different strategies and ball combinations in league. It kinda matters there, but the league is 35 weeks long.

I need to throw urethane more as a lefty on these types of patterns. I always just try to slow way down and play this crazy angle...I always just discount the urethane up the 7 board fast...This video reminded me that it's still in my bag lol.

I recently bowled on sport shot for the first time and it was the 2024 masters pattern, I was able to get 1 good game of 221 but averaged 175 for 6. That pattern is miserable.

Packy, it is never fun to have those low games, but it is true that we learn off of what we do. I've had my days where I struggle to find the pocket for a whole game or two. Even nights where the carry is nowhere to be found. There was a 3 month stretch where my 10 pin shooting was gone. Even though you had that 130 game, we have all been there. We want to bowl great every time, but we always need to have that one game that shows we are human. I had one night where the lanes were tough and I shot in the 150's and 170's in games 1 and 2, finished with a 300 because I finally figured out the line. What I did notice, 1 and 2 definitely looked tough for you guys. Still, always cool seeing you in these tournaments. Never had a lot of experience on sports shots, but it is a great challenge. Looking forward to the next one.

I've been bowling bad the last 2 league nights. BOTH terrible nights. First night spilt beer all over me and the floor mid second game soaking my good bowling shoes I've held onto since 2016 but had to throw em out. Ended up with a 590 for the night. And just last night I ended up with my best game being a 199 for the night and the other 2 we're like 183 and 194. I missed all my 10 pins tonight, the 3,10, and the 6,10. It's bowling though! Gotta bowl bad to bowl good right?

Sometimes it's NOT your fault. People need to realize that there is such a thing as TERRIBLE BALL REACTION. If you have TERRIBLE BALL REACTOIN, it doesn't matter how good you are. There's even a common saying about this, and that saying is true.

Stalker Steve here, always sunny in Philly reference, 4th comment. Remember what you did when you were bowling poor, had no equipment to change to.. Go with your bread and butter 1 ball and stick to it and make your adjustments. You basically said so yourself? Don't want to make a 5th comment. Rightness don't understand. Left side sometimes just won't be there no matter what, noone to open it up with you.

Always nice seeing PBA pros showing up to amateur tournaments. Will die on this hill pros should not be allowed to bowl in amateur tournaments
@ThehousebowlingextrasАй бұрын
The definition of an amateur is: “a person who engages in a pursuit, especially a sport, on an unpaid rather than a professional basis.” Hard for me to see a tournament that has a prize fund as truly an amateur tournament where our sport has people who bowl for a living and only bowl amateur tournaments
@patrickj1628Ай бұрын
@@Thehousebowlingextras and I get that but what other sport allows professionals to go back and forth between amateur tournaments and professional tournaments? Tennis once you go pro you can’t go back to amateur unless you give up pro status same thing with golf. Pros have an unfair advantage against amateurs who are weekend warriors that work for a living can’t practice all day if they want can get equipment from the company you’re on staff with either free or at discounted price. Pros also get to practice on any pattern they want since most alleys cater to you or you can go to a training center. Until tournaments ban pros it won’t change just saying if bowling ever wants to be considered a sport than it needs to be treated as one not just a recreational game.

I HATE that urethane is being utilized so much. I hate seeing it on the national tour, I hate watching videos on KZbin and that's what is being thrown. Man up and ball up. Try differnent layouts. Pin in track and such. Stop relying on urethane. Love your videos and your discussions on what you're doing amd trying.
@ThehousebowlingextrasАй бұрын
Urethane 212 reactive and urethane mixed 130 same same 146 back to what I started with 215 If I switched out of urethane the ball was too jumpy off the spot. Everyone who cashed this week at the tournament was using urethane, trying to make the pattern more simple. Trust me I wish I could have fun and throw all the new reactive balls but that’s not always what’s best for score.
