Actually the game keeps track of every shot in the game. From the codex to weapons in the displays in the saseka lodge, they track alot. Like how many times you've shot, how many times you've shot a specific weapon, how many times you got a kill, how many misses you've had etc etc

the only game, I know of, to have the player character hold open the Garand’s bolt open with their palms. The technique makes the bolt shove necessary.

But he didn't do that, at least as far as I could tell. When he manually ejects the clip he takes his hand off the bolt to load the next clip and on empty the bolt moves back on its own.

For a hunting game guns are enough to be. And animations are really great!

Me personally, this game has quite the best animations, even the sound. You can hear the echo, which most games don't do, afaik. I do have one minor error to point out. The M1 Garand rear aperture sight is far too wide. It should be smaller.

Likely done so you can actually aim with it ingame, since the mechanics of looking through a peep sight are different from looking at the center of a screen

My only gripe with these (except that some are pretty boring so 2 gripes I guess) is that they reuse the model for 12ga shells for what are clearly 20ga weapons. 20ga shells are thinner, shorter, and (more often than not) yellow, not red.

I like that all rifles have iron sights. These days you see way too many rifles without iron sights. In case the scope is misaligned, it's never bad to have backup iron sights.

This is a small 10-round magazine as a rule, as regular magazines are heavy.

It bothers me too when in shooters the character just holds the pistol with the hand under the mag, so far the only game I've seen do it properly is no more room in hell 2

Because the bolt didn't slam forward like it's actually supposed to. If the bolt worked like that then no one would ever get Garand thumb. I guess he lubricated the bolt when using "Lightning Hands", lol.

Because Garand Thumb is largely a myth, when the bolt is properly pulled all the way back the follower won't trip the bolt.

The DLC is actually not that expensive actually. DLC packs will cost you around 2-4 USD while Hunting Reserve DLC will cost around 8 USD. Not to mention these DLC packs go on sale quite often. You could get the base game plus most if not all it's DLC for around 50 USD. Not a bad deal honestly.
