Dan Thanks for showing us your gear. Do you ever use a saddle? Can you give us your thoughts on saddles?
@thehuntingbeast2 жыл бұрын
I have played with them. I don't care much for them. They are another tool you can use and many people claim to feel more comfortable in them. But where I hunt big bucks are hard to kill. They dont get old without learning some valuable lessons. Sticking out from the tree even the slightest gets me busted. Having to manuver or move my bow around a tree in front of me would be a very hard task when a big buck pops out at close range. I move to much in a saddle and get seen fidgeting. Also, I cant get a saddle in alot of the trees I hunt in. like cedar trees where a hole is made to sit in, or buck thorn where the tree is to thick to shoot around. I want to hunt big bucks, not for a tree that will work. Thios might not be an issue for guys in some terrains, but it is for me hunting the edge. Often Im in a tiny tree that barely supports me, often thats all I have to work with. hanging off the side will get me busted every time. I set up close to bedded bucks. I climb the back side of the tree being careful to watch ahead and not get to high that Im getting seen from the bed, I reach around and set the stand facing the incoming deer and slide slowly around the tree into the stand. When the deer is coming I slide to my feet and turn sideways, and press my self against the tree, so I blend in with the tree. Its open in front of me, I dont have to worry about which side the deer goes on. 1st ethical shot I have I shoot before the bucks extraordinary senses detect me. With that said, Josh occasionally uses a saddle, maybe he can give you some pro's...
@richardhayber52982 жыл бұрын
@@thehuntingbeast thank you. That was fast! I really appreciate it. I mostly hunt with a rifle so maybe its not so hard for me to shoot around the tree. Maybe it helps me as a rest. They seem lighter to carry. I will give it a try and let you know how I do. Keep producing your content. Its awesome.

My M1 climber is super comfortable but it weighs 33 pounds. Looking forward to trying a much lighter setup next year. I have a few weeks left to keep from going deerless in SC this season. 2nd season hunter and learning a lot and having a blast. Ordered mine a couple days ago and see they’re sold out again already. These sticks must be insanely popular.

I like the steps especially the weight and price point. If I ever need to get more I'll definitely consider these. I have Muddy steps and really like them. I prefer the rope vs the strap like these and Lone Wolf have. Add a rope like the Muddy have and I would consider these the ultimate sticks. I would pay extra for the rope if it was an option. Great work Dan. Enjoy your videos and knowledge.

I just ordered Beast sticks yesterday ! I researched a lot of competitors sticks and for many reasons the Beast sticks are the ones for me. For one thing, it's gonna be like Dan is with me on every hunt. I'm gonna make sure the wind is as good as possible and sneak in quieter than i ever have before, just because of that extra mental boost that I'll get with the Beast sticks strapped to my stand. New spot scouted and same day hunt every single time... this year won't be much time left, but next season I should be a hunting machine with Dan's 7 lb stand included !

Dan - You say you never sit the same tree twice... Will you sit the same "area" twice? By this I mean, maybe a different tree, but 10,20,30 yards away from the original tree? Certain areas are good, and I just can't imagine never hunting a specific area more than once. Thanks!
@thehuntingbeast6 жыл бұрын
Really great areas I would recommend no more than 3 hunts a year. What you need to remember is that no matter what you do to remove scent, you can't, and your scent can remain there for weeks. If you want to step up to mature bucks, especially pressured ones, you need to catch them off guard. The over all majority of actual mature bucks I have taken have been from spots I never ever hunted before. Despite hunting most good spots once or twice a year... They are not as stupid as people make them out to be. For a buck to make it to 5 or older he has to be an expert at getting around people. If you were being hunted, would you keep walking into an area where someone was setting up to kill you? Big bucks pattern you. You need to catch them by surprise. When guys learn this its when they step up from nice bucks ((2 or 3 year olds) to mature bucks and more bucks.
