The area y'all hunt is really unique. That cattail island territory is definitely a specified plan of attack. I went from big hardwoods of New England to the Jungles of Vietnam in Louisiana. Huge pine tracts with sporadic hardwoods. Luckily my small but hardwood heavy land does pull in deer. Terrain features are almost none existent compared to up north. Y'all Rock always dig watching Dangerous Dan & Company 👍🏻🦌🇺🇸

One of the best hunting educational videos that I have watched! The way you explain what's going on in your mind is amazing! I'm late into the game, started in my mid 40's. You have taught me that's it's way more than finding fresh signs of deer. You have taught me how to think like a badass buck that lives in a high pressure area. With work and life here in the north east it's hard to get onto a good spot without ever hunter in the are looking for the same thing. I live in a highly pressured area, you gave me the knowledge to keep at it. "Anyone can get lucky sometimes. Takes a true master to be lucky all the time." I like your attitude about going for the buck and not worrying so much about other hunter's, hiker's, and dog walker's.

There is a big difference in many people's scouting techniques, I call it patience scouting, actually taking the time to dissect what is laying right in front of your eyes. Dan you seem to have mastered it, I throughly enjoy your deer perspective, and if I was to give you a name "swamp ninja " would suit you for sure!

All of your scouting videos are very educational to even a seasoned Bowhunter. I’m actually considering trying a lock on system for the first time in my life. I’m about to be 58 and I’m still learning all I can about hunting whitetails. Thank you and God bless from Flat Rock Al.

Dan I’m always learning something new watching your videos. I have a suggestion for a future video that I think would be cool. If you take one of your scouting videos like this and then hunt it in the fall and record that as well. If you made a third video and intertwine the two other videos to show what you were expecting the deer to do when you were scouting and what actually happened during the hunt. Everyone really enjoys you sharing your knowledge with us. Ty

I love this video, I just went scouting on a piece of PL yesterday. Since I been watching your videos I got on ONX and just tore up the marshes where I live. This piece of PL was classic, text book on what you teach us. I tracked this monster 1200 yards from a field to a oxbow marsh to a deep creek. This video just gave me hope he might still be alive. I found his or a one of a big bucks beds to the tip of the oxbow with it wore to the ground with a few others on wind directions with loads of hair. I just appreciate all you do cause it’s hit a lightbulb on how I scout now. Wish you could see what this buck did to these poor trees lol chest high rubs it was easy to track him, thanks Dan!

Good stuff as usual Dan...those east winds are killing winds...and as you know those multiple trunked trees 🌳 keeps your outline broken up...I'd bet your going to score on a east wind...early season those buck bedding areas are tied to marked breeding areas...bucks don't move much or far in those areas but hang out during the day. These chosen spots should be all day set-ups...what I've found is you need to beat him back to his bedding area and then your set up for him to make the mistake....great stuff as always my friend...thanks for sharing your knowledge...for gained knowledge is the gateway to understanding how to hunt mature bucks..👍😁🦌🦌🦌🎯🎯🎯🎯

Call me crazy but on these late winter/early spring scouting trips I like bringing 3 or 4 climbing sticks with me. Even though the foliage is missing and you don’t have a good representation of actual shooting lanes I find I can see and spot so much more for sign ad terrain as well. We don’t have much marsh country out here but it sure helps here in SW Ohio!

Thx for what you do Dan. Great stuff. I have watched a lot of your KZbin hunts and instruction. Even caught you on White tail cribs episode. Impressive to say the least. I have only ever hunted whitetail in big woods of Pa. with a rifle. Haven’t got one but have been in the game once or twice. May expand my season by taking up archery. Not crossbow. Question: with all the crossbows available what do you use and why if I may ask? Thx.

@@joshwollberg3028 and at least in Illinois where I am located, white oak acorns drop and get eaten early, but red oaks drop and sit until it rains enough to wash away the tannins, so they are a huge draw right around rut time at Halloween or so.

Wt time of the yr are you in those beds ? An would that invasion push em out ? Like how soon could i go into beddingto hunt it?
@thehuntingbeast7 ай бұрын
March... For most of the bedding areas I scout in spring, the bucks are not bedding there at that time of year. Im looking at the sign from the fall before. I do believe everytime you go into a bedding area you potentially do a little damage, but lets face it, coyotes go thru there, shed antler hunters go thru and the occasuonal other hunter walks thru... me going in spring / winter when the bucks are not there really does minimal damage. Even the peimary spots where they are there now, they occasionally get kicked from those beds... Just keep in mind the less the better

I swear I watched a video back in November where a guy hunted that spot! He shot a good buck with a bow, and a bigger buck came in and started gouging the dead buck. The guy yelled at the buck, it took a full minute before it noticed him trying to get its attention. If it’s not that place, it’s identical! If I can find that video I’ll share the link here. May take a bit to find it, but I’m gonna try.
