Wish i could watch these guys for hours everyday- the knowledge they have about deer hunting and public land is out of this world! Hands down most knowledge about hunting on the internet! Just look at their success on public land. Wish you guys would post a Video everyday of the year!!

1 min 34 second in..and I just gotta say that the tone in Aaron’s voice about this mouse trap is as excited as I’ve ever heard it. Love it

Use wire coat hanger to run through the can. Use 1 can (Mich Ultra my preference) put anti freeze in bottom of bucket if you aren't going to be there awhile, it drowns them quickly and keeps them from stinking. Ted's got the best bait nailed.

Did some scouting today found a nice buck bedding area with rubs everywhere in a secluded spot that I previously didn’t know about scouting a transition line like you guys recommended. Appreciate the advice keeping the trail cams a few hundred yards away. Can’t wait to get in there next season!!

That buck with the extra main beam from the trail cam pic looks a lot like one of the bucks from an earlier video. Where Zack was bow hunting the the creek/ river and had a couple good bucks chasing. Won't be the same deer, would it? Looking forward to watching you guys give that spot a try this fall.

Not a scouting related question, but when selecting a tree to hunt at 16:50 you mention a couple different scenarios and setups. Can you elaborate on the type of setup that you all would prefer in those locations? A saddle, lock-on or does it not matter. Would one work better in a particular tree over another? Or is it just a preference and ease of access situation? Thanks and great video that provides some awesome details on your post season scouting strategy.
@TheHuntingPublic5 жыл бұрын
MrOmcif good idea. You could have got a saddle or stand in most of those trees. However there was one where I’d rather have a stand so we could sit and shoot to a scrape

Jesus Christ, I've learned more from you guys in a couple years of watching your films than anything else. Love this content! Going to try some of these tactics! I'm on a small 70 acre parcel that's part private and part public (I have permission) and trying to learn more about their activities (especially where the bucks go in winter in my area). I hope y'all can make it to New England for 2019 deer tour (Preferably NH or ME..maybe MA).

You need to sit across the room with your bow with a rubber snubber end on it for the mice. It's great practise in the off season. You'll get sick of fixing holes in the drywall so you will become a better archer. Lol
@markizard68065 жыл бұрын
what do y'all think of rub trees that have obviously been rubbed for several years? I've got a tree on private that I've hunted for about 20 years that every year has rubs on it. There is not a lot of deer activity in this area, but yet its always rubbed. Ive found trees like this on public as well, but I'm curious as to your thoughts on it.

Have you guys considered using the Amazon rechargeable batteries? We've been using them with good results and saves a lot of cash.
@KDOGGER115 жыл бұрын
Be cautious of using rechargeables, the voltage is lower than your typical AA batteries. This results in the camera turning on and then thinking it's dead well before the battery is close to drained.
@normanrobinson52385 жыл бұрын

I'm a day or so late watching this video. I try to watch them when they drop. Anyhow, during the off-season, would you put a camera on a rubline trail in open hardwoods, or on a trail leaving a bedding area with scattered rubs concentrated in a small thicket?
@TheHuntingPublic5 жыл бұрын
5T_Outdoors close to bedding. We wouldn’t pay as much attention to rub lines in open timber.

After thinking about it I still think the blood is from a shed antler. If he shed that right side and walking with his head up the blood would most likely fall in line with his right front leg. Sounds decent on paper at least. I know you guys thought of that!

@vanny67665 жыл бұрын
Love your videos. Have a question, I have really cut back on using cameras because I believe some mature bucks will often skirt them once they get that first pic, have you experienced this as well?
@TheHuntingPublic5 жыл бұрын
Not really sure. It can definitely alert some of them at times but we usually put them far away from where we're hunting so it's not an issue.
@vanny67665 жыл бұрын
Just was curious if you’ve noticed that. I know I have, during summer patterns they don’t seem to care but once fall sets in if I get a pic of them in their core area they seem to avoid the camera after that. I’ve seen them do it from the stand a couple times and the year I killed my biggest the day after I took the camera down is the day he walked in my shooting lane lol. So anymore I use cameras for inventory mainly and hunt sign
@TheHuntingPublic5 жыл бұрын
@@vanny6766 yea we still hunt sign primarily. We believe cameras can help a ton when learning about how/when deer use an area. We'll leave them in a bedding area for 6 months at a time without touching them. The deer eventually relax and accept it being there and when we check after season, there is tons of intel to be gained about the spot.
@Davebaker3646 жыл бұрын
You need to put water in the bucket to kill the mice! Because if you release them outside they just come right back in! Been there done that!!

@beaverwithachainsaw6 жыл бұрын
You'd be liable to catch me up in the 5 gallon bucket, with that Miller Lite can. Assuming my melon would fit! btw, The best mouse bait I've used is a sliver of raw bacon tied to the trigger. Even mice love bacon.
You are in his bedroom.....!!! The only thing I would have done different and I know this from experience is that I would have walked completely around it. Since the place you think is good at first sight is usually just your hope... And I would have found a tree for each major wind direction on each side of that bedding. Since that deer will have a favorite way into that safety area. You could use a trail camera on time lapse mode for a few weeks to see movement off in the distance especially since you have snow. If you hunt that place more than once you will figure it out and get a chance at a deer I have no doubt. Can you trim branches less than 1"?
