I used to watch it in 70s and 80s when it was on T.V. Used to always look forward to it but sometimes when I'd sit down to watch it they would announce a change of programme to an antiques show or something. A few times the signal on the T.V went for like 45 minutes too so missed all the program.

The scene of the Hulk crushing the billiard ball to dust using just his grip and forearm strength is one of the most impressive feats of strength for the entire series. He did a similar feat in the Wax Museum episode where he crushes the ball of a mace into scrap metal.

It's funny you should mention that, as Richard Kiel (who was originally chosen to play The Hulk before being replaced by Lou Ferrigno) used to work as a nightclub bouncer prior to becoming an actor.

@@nickhyde420 I know. It's in the lakeside scene of the original 'Pilot' episode, when 'The Hulk' is trying to rescue a little girl and he looks up a tree. Actually, although you may not even be aware of it, Kiel can also be seen in the distant shots of the lab fire scene at the end. He's obviously way too tall and slim to be Lou Ferrigno. Ferrugno was 6'5 and weighed 275Ibs at the time, Kiel was a whopping 7'2 and was 320Ibs. If you have all of the episides and TV Movies on DVD like I have, why not freeze frame that scene and look very closely to see what I mean?

Props to the show for keeping things relatively grounded. Just the Hulk, but no aliens from outer space or bigfoots. Still, it was always a bit convenient how Banner ALWAYS got thrown out of view just before Hulking out.

I only seen the Hulk throw a punch once, David Banner was being hammered by an Angry Gorilla, as he turned into the Hulk he gave the Gorilla a huge George Foreman upper cut to the gut and lifted him off the floor. Anyone else remember the Hulk throwing a punch any other time.

The setup clearly had the viewer waiting for him to be in the bar fight, but he did the usual growling and muscle flexing, so this (IMO) indicates that the Hulk has a conscience and is aware of everything going on, he throws objects to scare people instead of punching them and breaking bones, so the Hulk is not some mindless manifestation of David's inner being...

@@adrian72300 The Hulk definitely had a conscience which was evident throughout the series. He always knew who the "bad guys" were and focused his wrath on them while leaving innocent bystanders alone. And even though he'd shove his adversaries through a plaster wall or pick them up and throw then 15 or 20 feet, he always stopped short of seriously injuring them and his aggressiveness quickly disappeared after the threat was neutralized.

Keneth Johnson already had a low opinion of comic book characters and wanted to make the Hulk as different as he could so he went with him not talking.
