Memory (DRAM) access has nothing to do with Simultaneous Multi-Threading (i.e. Hyper Threading in case of Intel). It is about instruction-level parallelism where there is an attempt to keep the multiple execution units in a modern CPU busy by issuing multiple instructions out-of-order from two or more (depending on the SMT level, for HT this is 2) different sources (i.e. threads).
