I met a guy irl who is an actual mortician and he was telling me about the first time he cremated a body. He was the only one in the building and once the body was in the crematorium be started to hear a noise that sounded like screaming along with metal clanking noises. He panicked and ran outside to call his boss who basically laughed and said "oh that's just the gas from their intestines escaping and it makes a super loud noise. The metal noises are the metal just shifting as it heats up." Pretty chilling honestly... I could not do this job.

Reminds me of a time when I helped my uncle clean out a floor of an old hospital he worked at (janitor). It was old and they were going to demolish it. Lots of interesting stuff, like an electric generator from WW2 that was repurposed for the hospital. We cleared out a bunch of old medical books and heard about one of the older doctors from that floor used to keep a copy Mein Kampf in his desk there. Even some old wax cylinders used for a phonograph (ones with actual audio was already taken away). The creepy part was the basement with imbalming tables and stuff. It was basically the storage room for all the unwanted stuff they had. Some of it was stuff almost 100 years old that was donated from other hospitals when they first started up. No lights and there was still dirt residue from past flooding from the street outside. I don't remember how big the room was, but the flashlight couldn't cast a beam to the opposite wall. The entire time we're walking around, it felt like people were watching us. As if the shadows were hiding something. Like if you turned a flashlight on into the dark corner of the room, you'd see dozens of people standing there looking at you. It was one of the most creepiest places I'd ever been. Thankfully, I was there to unload stuff from the 2nd floor, not the basement.

There's some very well done stuff in this game, but narratively I am really struggling with why the actual fuck the character stays and keeps trying to do their fucking job lol. As soon as all the cupboards exploded at the same time, literally anybody with a sense of self-preservation would be out of there. It's kind of unimmersive when someone is legit seeing demons standing there for a solid twenty seconds, after previously seeing unexplained movement of objects and hearing strange noises, and is like _"welp, must be my funny eyes.... Aaaaanyways, I've got a job to do :D"._ Narratively, when a certain threshold of spook is reached, the character should be forced into staying within the space; like they're trying to get out but doors and windows won't open

“The body is gonna be ruined” Yeah nah. It doesn’t happen that quickly that a body becomes mush just because you left it in the prep room for embalming overnight. While there are some diseases and circumstances (like if the deceased is a baby) where bodies become decomposed quicker, it’s not the end of the world to leave a body out for several hours. Also, being a funeral director is one of the last truly 24/7 jobs that people have. If it’s part of your job to come in and embalm in the middle of the night when the boss tells you, then unless you have outstanding circumstances that prevent you from doing so, then you do it. By the way, you would never have a preparation room where there are windows that people can easily look through and open. Edit: the reason for marking down anything found on the body (wounds, tattoos, birthmarks or deformities, etc) is because if a family decides to sue you and/or the funeral home for the way the body looks, you can submit the report to show that the mark was already there when the body came into the funeral home’s care.

@@spcrri4796 I see your point, but there's a couple things (and sorry if this is tedious, I just like talking about game design): 1- In video games you have to suspend your disbelief sometimes. I mean, if you want an explanation, you can say the character is carrying stuff on her arms. She never uses them to fight back or climb, so it's totally possible. The amount of items needed at one moment never seems to be that many and she doesn't really carry them long distances, so it's totally possible. 2- If the game's horror doesn't come from the items you have on you or how you use them, then why have it? Every time I heard "Oh, I don't have any space" it just felt like it killed the flow, and took away from the building tension. We can laugh at how videogame characters always have pocket dimensions for their items, because it is silly when you think about it. But if it doesn't serve a purpose, is the game really improved by limited space? When you're surrounded by static noise in the fog in the Silent Hill games, the tension isn't killed by the thought of "How much can James Sunderland shove up his *ss", because it's not important. In RE the lack of space makes every missed shot feel like a detriment to your future survival, adding to the tension.

Even though the character doesn’t seem too freaked out by certain things, it doesn’t take away from the fact at how cool these scares look. Yeah it takes away from the value, but this was a pretty awesome watch in my opinion. Continuity and plot isn’t exactly something I care about when I’m in something for the thrills/scares anyway.
