Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

I've been watching Indie Projects for the last 5 years. Loved your van trips, but I have to say that I'm really happy that you live now on Miracle Mountain. I know it's still a lot of work, but you can start and stop, give yourself breaks. Flush a toilet etc. You've proved your abilities, now enjoy it's rewards too.😊

Theo, when you shone the light inside the hole the water was coming out of to the left it looked like a piece of pipe was inside. The offgrid property is looking beautiful, you have done an amazing job and I'm sure the new owners will love it. ❤

Do what my grandmother did. A hole was dug about the size of a small metal garbage can where the water runs through. Let it fill up with water and overflow down its path. When my grandad needed a break from farming the area, he would get himself some ice cold water and relax under the shade for a spell then back to work. My grandmother would fill a large jar and bring back to the house. (She didn't like the taste of well water.) She would also keep a couple of crawdads in the water to help keep it clean. Oh yea, and she put a layer of pea gravel in the bottom to keep from stiring up dirt.

Oh my goodness! First, the old place looks so great and that giant bowl full of flowers is a gorgeous touch! I'm burying bottles with holes in the ground up to the neck and then fill them to leak at the root level. I think you can make them from clay pots as well - called olla, they are designed for hot dry climates. Another spring is a massive gift. I'm so excited for you! Yes, Theo, you are only one man but wow, do you get a LOT done! As hard as it is, you accomplish massive amounts of work. My hat is off to you. And Bea - you look so much healthier and happier than you were. Better health contributes so much to our mental health too. And it is so great that you were finally able to the right treatment!!!!! Keep taking good care of yourself and healing!! Best wishes to your mom - may she heal up with no surprises. She took good care of you , so now you can return the favor. A secret spring. Another project, a potential pond. Make the circular gravel area with metal pot a fire pit or outdoor barbecue area. Add some rustic benches & chairs, an umbrella or sunshade.

Gravel is brilliant and you don’t need the fancy stuff. The grey gravel looks even better once the dust has been washed off by the rain. Gravel drains well. It keeps your shoes dry and clean and. Gravel is not slippery to walk on in winter when it freezes. It’s a good place to over winter plants in pots. You can add more gravel as and when you need it and driveways and paths can be any shape and size you like. It’s relatively inexpensive too.

I am Portuguese and my family is from Terciera Azores village of Biscoites I spent 4 months living on family property in my teens.
