@@dannysublett1014 I completely agree with you. If the engine and transmission are in good shape he stands a chance on maybe breaking even but that's a big if. I'm not gonna lie. I like his content but if after that last comment I will no longer watch. And I will definitely go with the after market detch knockoff instead. They are actually pretty good as well and cheaper.

There are deals out there! I've been buying cars from $400 to $2K for the last 6 years. Some end up being for parts (rusty, smashed, no title), others end up using those parts to get back on the road. It is fun and satisfying! Thanks Chris for the channel!

the last cheap parts car i bought was an 89 GT 5 speed but back in 2017 for $1250. it was drifted into a wall, had minor damage to the left rear wheel arch. the left rear axle was bent, left rear wheel was taco'd. the driver seat was ripped out of the floor but the car ran and drove and all of the electrical worked. pulled the drivetrain out, everything rebuilt and went into one of my 2.3's. sold the gutted body w/ a 7.5 rear end out of the 2.3 and all the GT plastic for $800 and the guy was super happy and planned to rebuild it. it was a perfect example of a hard life fox 5.0, but lives on in an extremely clean 93.

Amazing how people destroy these cars. I had a mint 92' GT I sold with original black Interior. The guy ended up taking a sawzall to the inner fenders to make room for a massive turbo. Long story short car was destroyed when they were done with it. 🤦🙄

There are deals out there for sure, but sometimes hard to find, a 1000 is a okay deal, like you said the travel fuel, food, and time add to the cost. Can't wait to see what some of those engine parts looks like.

have to agree, i don't factor in the cost of gas spent (i was picking up dissassembled engines in the trunk of my 1999 Ford Escort getting 42 mpg, so why not) or the time spent traveling for a good deal, since i love a reason to roadtrip to places i wouldn't be otherwise. it's going to the sketchy areas that i get a little unsettled over :) So far, only got misdirected once, and got lectured about Jesus and the Rapture only once....

I have a couple of “mystery motors” one has a non HO cam or 351 firing order, ARP head bolts. Otherwise stock in appearance. They did take the header’s off and put a stock intake back on. Can’t wait to open it up.

did you find cast pistons instead of forged? the regular 5.0 in t'birds and 86-87 non LSC lincolns had the old 302 firing order.

I hate to see a GT get stripped like a buffalo on the plains, but i get that's how some people can afford to save a car they have on a budget. any time you spend less than the parts are worth, you got a deal--I paid $1,000 for a 1967 convertible so rusty i couldn't open the side doors (until i jacked it up) due to the front and rear ends of the car folding in to pinch the side doors shut. But it's a V8 Mustang convertible with the interior/exterior decor packages, so there's a bit of room between its value and what I paid for it. sometimes breaking even is just enough--we all watch reality shows where a profit gets made, but if you can drive around and make memories in a classic convertible and then sell it for enough that it didn't cost you money, do you really need to make a profit?

Man these comments are all over the place. I think it’s a great deal on a built car that’s been abused a little. Heads,headers, exhaust and intake will bring $1000+ easy, probably a cam,rear gears, world class t5 those are probably another $1000+. I see lots of profit if someone parts it out at least in Wisconsin. Parts are needed more and more as these cars age and are still abused.

I will get a joy out ofcompletly rebuilding this mustang i put the money into it. But it will get a stroked 351 to 408 with a 6r80 six beed auto with select shift turbo charge. Complet new cobra kit complete new interior gas tank new fuel system inderpendent rear suspension with 355s maximum motorsports tublar k member with comple suspension. New full body paint job and engine bay brembo 14inch brakes and calipers with udated 96 spindles rear 13inch brakes. 3 cor aluminum radiator with contour dual 12inch eletcric fans everything would be new.

I would’ve paid 600- 700 bucks for that car. I bought a white 2002 camaro that was shit box. That was in 2017. Never again I’ll do that, paid 300$ bucks for it. Sent it off to junk yard and got 200 back for it.
