I'm sure CPS could give a long list of things far worse than any of this. I heard one case where a stepfather put a kid in the hospital with thirteen broken bones and both he and the mother were arrested for it. The kid did recover and was taken in by the deceased father's sister.

I got into trouble alot as a kid for things like: not being able to remember my work asignments in school, missing small lines of grass while mowing the grass, and missing crumbs on the floor or counters when cleaning the kitchen all things that require one particular thing... the ability to see properly..... my father constantly criticized and punished me over and over as a child for something i could do nothing about.... i needed glasses and he outright refused to take me to get my eyes tested... he would also physically punish me for squinting my eyes in an attempt to focus them a tiny bit better.... it wasn't until i was about 13 years old that my math teacher in school called my parents and threatened to call CPS if they didn't take me to get my eyes checked.... i also got grounded for "smart mouthing" my step mother when, after the eye doctor told her i needed glasses, i told her "see? i told you i couldn't see things" the worst part is that pretty much everyone in my family wears glasses except him, even though he's supposed to wear them when he's driving and he again outright refuses to do so

I've been the subject of abuse by my birth parents. 10, 9, 8, a version of 7, 5 was brutal for me, my mom stripped me to my underwear and forced me to walk 1/2 mile in public to a payphone to call someone who cares, this also goes in with 4 except we didn't have internet back in that decade, 3 didn't exist back in that decade either. My mom had removed the door from my room on a few occasions when I was younger in order to catch what I was doing on the computer so much. She hadn't realized that chasing away all my local friends over superficial bs is why I was on my computer a lot. I had no one else to talk to and very few kids at school shared my interests. Which mostly revolved around drawing and to hell if I was going to be at school earlier or stay longer than I should have for a damn club. I was just on deviantart and a few other art community websites. Big whoop. So I just rearranged my room where my desk was in the corner but I'd always be facing the doorway so I could click out of what I was doing or temporarily move onto something else whenever I saw her coming down the hall in my peripheral vision. I saw her taking my door and raised it with some feng shui. Having a helicopter parent was a nightmare.
@ShackleYT6 жыл бұрын
to be fair to the parents that do this, this is an effective punishment, taking away your kid's privacy is something that they don't know they can lose, and it's pretty effective in my mind, but it's just that, a punishment. it isn't something to be done willy nilly like the mom of the person above. in my opinion, privacy is an important thing to have growing up, since the absence of it can lead to some pretty deep emotional scarring, and even outbursts at an earlier age than the expected teenage years. and yes, some children will just go to other places to seek out their privacy. the correct answer to this problem is to encourage your child to freely share their thoughts and hobbies, not force them. make sure they understand that it's okay to keep secrets, even from you, but also let them know that you're ready to listen to them when they do want to tell you something. also, don't punish your kid because "that's how my parents did it." the main goal of ANY parent is to help the kid grow up to be a better person than you were, not the same.

My mom and stepdad spanked me, beat me, spit in my face, berated me, put me down, and destroyed my self-esteem. I remember a time when I was 5 or 6, my stepdad came home drunk and started screaming and hitting my mom and I was locked in my room crying and I put my fingers under the door trying my best to help my mom. My stepdad flung the door open hitting me in the head and beat me to the point where I had a severe asthma attack due to the stress and anxiety and had to go to the hospital. The doctors and nurses saw the fresh bruises on me and immediately knew it was my stepdad and called the police. He was arrested at the hospital for domestic child abuse and spent 18 months in jail. Yet my spineless mother still got back with him & the abuse continued to the point that my grandparents legally adopted me and saved my life. I'm still traumatized by his abuse and have nightmares about it. When I bring it to my mom (who is *STILL* with that abusive asshole) They play it off and say I was the problem and make me feel guilty and shameful for their actions. I was raised my serious Narcissists. My biological father committed suicide when I was 2 years old.

I can't remember how many times I was told to go to my room, undress and wait for my parent, usually my mom, to return with a belt. When that happened, which was often, it was accompanied by lots of insults and worse. This left me with a lifetime of problems such as being unable to trust people and a big portion of being afraid of authority figures as well as being afraid of close relationships with women to this day. I'm a lot better off than ever before but I'll never become the person that I should have become because of the damage I suffered. back then. I also have lifetime ADHD. Ruby Vlogs If the parents are NOT 18 and up, there are other reasons they should go to therapy for. 😆 ...On a more serious note, the younger the child, the worse is the damage. So giving parenting lessons to those with kids over 18 won’t repair what’s already broken.

RandomGaming YT If I’d spit people in the face “as a lesson” it’d sting even less. But it would be wrong anyway. “Punishment” is authority figures’ excuse to be an asshole. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Your parents might be good people in other aspects for all I know, but spanking is damaging you psychologically in the long run. It normalizes violence and revenge against the defenseless ones.
@yYSilverFoxYy6 жыл бұрын
RandomGaming YT See, the commenter before me also thinks that retribution is justified if someone is provoked. When you’re provoked, violence should be only used as a last resort, and only in self defense (or defending others).

The worst punishments is abuse disguised as “punishment” I remember my Dad took me out for spicy chicken wings, and then took me out for ice cream (I later found out I’m lactose intolerant). Then, on the way home, he stopped at the bank for a deposit. When we were waiting in line inside the bank, I was extremely gassy and the line was barely moving. There was a large line of people there, and my Dad was so embarrassed of my smell, he loudly yelled at me to “stop farting” and made me stand in the corner of the bank, where everyone stared at me knowing exactly why I was there. The only crime I committed was being fed a poor diet by my parent, and it took me many years to figure out I didn’t do anything wrong. “Punishments” like that were daily, and turned me into a shut in for many years with intense anxiety as all it did in the end was make me fear anything and everything that was outside of my control. And, worst of all, I felt like it was my fault for being this way.

Let me tell you all a story... Once there was middle school boy who a had a very bad temper. He would lash out at people all of time and answer rudely to his parents, teachers, and sometimes his own friends. His father was a wise man and knew that something had to be done. So he told his son how much he loved him, and lead him outside to a fence in the backyard. He then handed his son a jar of nails, and instructed him to hammer a nail into the fence every time he lost his temper. On the first day the boy hammered 37 nails and it took him quite some time. But day after day, the boy began to control his temper, and over the next few weeks the number of nails he was hammering into the fence slowly decreased. He eventually discovered that it was easier to control his rage than to hammer those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't loose his temper at all! He ran to show his father the fence. His father lovingly suggested to the boy that every day that he kept his temper he should now pull one nail out of the fence. So day after day, the boy kept his temper and removed one nail from the fence. After a few more weeks the job was done and every nail was removed. The father was so proud of his son and walked with out to the backyard. He hugged him, than looked into his eyes and said. "I love you so much my son and I'm so proud of what you had accomplished, but I want to show you something." He pointed toward the fence and continued. " Look at the holes now in the fence. It will never be the same again. Each time you treat someone rudely, say something in anger, or just flat out mean. They leave a hole or scar just like the ones in this fence. It's like stabbing someone with a knife and pulling it out. It hurts. It won't matter how many times you apologize to your friends or anyone else may forgive you, but the scars are still there. " The end... That brings me back to this video. Out of all the punishments mentioned in this video, which ones do you think were carried by loving wise parents or sadistic foolish parents?
@sirjgn48686 жыл бұрын

Simply a story with flaws. In most cases if someone especially a young someone has tempor problems they also have an obedience problem and when is told to hammer the nails into the fence the kid would simply just not do it... Whats the next step after that spanking, grounding, taking stuff away from them? But oh no no no those are all bad punishments. So what next send them to a boot camp where they just get yelled at for doing something wrong? Thats a form of mental abuse which is also wrong. So tell me, in this perfect world of yours what is one to do?

Ahhh! Use it to your advantage. When I was in my teens, my dad would put me in punishment for a week or two. I would immediately go into hibernation mode. After just a few days he would be so sick of looking at my snoozing corpse, he would actually end it early and tell me to get out and do something. Plot twist: It did come out later that I had mono. Now at 43 I have narcolepsy. Sleep is your friend.
