I'm from Zambia and the reality of the severity of our prison system is not exactly talked about locally. I always knew it was not exactly great but never knew it was this bad.

Belgian prisons are not to bad. We heave a slight overpopulation problem but for the rest it is quite nice. Libraries, Workshops and some even get a laptop with internet connecion. There are actualy homeless people doing crimes to get caought and thus can take jail as a relieve from the cold.

Thats a way you dont want to come to brazil. Here, we call prisions crime schools (you enter a thief, you get out in drug dealing) since its really crowded and is controlled by crime factions. Theres almost none security there, its overflowing with 54% of superpopulation and time to time, they revolt causing a genocide there.

These prison systems are so flawed. Packing inmates in a jam-packed prison cell will not help. Prison should be about rehabilitation, so the victim can change their ways and not repeat the same offence. What will a jam-packed disease spreading prison help achieve? More deaths and even more disease.

How could you not include Brazil? I watched a video from a brazillian prison that showed a man with his fingers cut off and he was lying on the floor with his wrists bound while another man force fed him his own fingers. In another video I saw an overcrowded cell (15 or 20 people in a cell for 2) and in the background was a guy holding up a severed head. And in yet another I watched a video of two men holding a third mans legs while a fourth man stomped on the third guys nuts for 1 or 2 minutes straight. Brutal.
