i have a video idea i would like you to cover. after watching some ioniq 5 forums, i've heard from other owners that people have been getting their cars stolen. because thieves have newer devices that let them clone your FOB, and let them do a "replay attack", acting like your a copy of your key. i worry that hyundai did not choose good enough/secure enough parts when making their wireless keys. so the video i would love for you to cover is: - can we buy an after market wireless key fob that is not vulnerable to replay attack (because it's a more secure wireless device) - how hard would it to get installed in the car. yes, i understand completely replacing your own starting FOB might stop remote parking from working. might be worth it if you stop your car from being stolen.

The brands that are not vulnerable to repeater attacks with their keyless entry fobs, simply have an accelerometer inside it. if the key is perfectly still (such as on a table at home or pocket in a hanging jacket), the key will simply stop listening/replying to any signal im pretty sure that will easy to retorfit in keyfobs, enough space for that in there, some plate between the battery and the fobs circuit, and a deported circuit/eccelerometer

Amusingly I saw the fill itemised 20 000 mile service bill for my awd ioniq.. it included this battery change .... priced at £9.50 !!!! Now that's quite a hefty margin 😮😮

Did you try using the Key itself to open the key? That’s always worked for me with Hondas.

I can confirm that if you stick the metal key in that hole it opens the case very easily. No screwdriver needed

It’s great! If you want to get it on discount, I wouldn’t wait. They have a 30 day return policy. But seriously, it’s awesome! Especially on the highway. I’m still playing with various settings to see what works best for my area

I didn't get an alert I changed the battery on my spare also and still didn't work my alarm light is off also, the car s fully charged to 80%

I got a 2023 that had been on the lot for 153 days and I thought, "Mmm, I'd better change this FOB battery". Same one as for  Air Tags.

Here's a teaser: if one mostly uses the button on the door to lock and unlock, that saves the fob's battery, right? Or is the fob's battery indirectly used because the car won't lock/unlock unless you have the key on you...(asking for a friend)

One problem though - you need a screwdriver or similar tool to pry the shell open - you can't use the physical key - too thick

You missed an opportunity to show what to do when the key fob battery goes dead. Namely how to open the front doors and how to turn on the car. The Prius had a slot that would hold the key fob, but in the IONIQ 5 ...
