The "Walking smoothly we look like a Basilisk" line isn't a Harry Potter reference. Especially with the line "Water splashing everywhere as we move" line following it. They are referencing the Basilisk Lizard. It's called the Jesus lizard because it runs on water & when it does, it splashes water all around its self. They use power & speed to cover small rivers. And if the distance is too far, they stop running on the surface & dive in to swim the rest of the way.
