Someone that also saw in "IT" (2017) what I saw. The film does not treat you like a stupid person. It's smart and very well crafted. A great film.

Xavier Dolan has talent, but his films are 'pretty good' at best. In some ways, Dolan is like the film equivalent of Ryan Adams; a promising artist who values quantity over quality, and is more interested in toying with people's expectations than working hard to fulfil his potential. I can't help but think Dolan's success has more to do with the politics of the 2010s than with the merit of his work.
@FairyAl6 жыл бұрын
have you seen all of his movies ? i'ld love to have this confidence you have : thinking your personal opinions are facts without justifying your claim...
@neonatalpenguin6 жыл бұрын
No, I put forward my personal opinion. Evidently, you disagree with that opinion but aren't willing to counter-argue it. No biggie.
@Kaseimartin6 жыл бұрын
Stop being ridiculous, ferial. Nowhere in his post did he claim that his personal opinions were facts.
@sadiesleepwalker6465 жыл бұрын
'values quantity over quality, doesn't work hard?' 'does he have so many films? And you can't underestimate the work of an artist, if you don't appreciate his works, that's okay if you font think them great. Everyone has a differ taste. I think (maybe it's my only opinion), he still keeps working on finding his thing in directing, or style if directing, but his expressionism, his visual accentuation, his bitter-sweet vibe and tense emotion drive are already his style, maybe not masterful, but he has that. And it's personal and unabashed explicit, and he doesn't hide it. He's doing what he enjoys.

Wow he gets off to an atrocious start- It? Really? Good Will Hunting? Has the kid not seen any of Gus' other films like My Own Private Idaho? Which it feels like Xavier channels in all his films...

spike the god poster A masterpiece? I don't think many film scholars would go along w that. A good film? Sure. Are Drugstore Cowboy & My Own Private Idaho infinitely better? Yes they are!
@harryday32586 жыл бұрын
dude films are subjective just because something isn't considered a masterpiece doesn't mean it can't be somebody's favourite movie if everyone's favourite was the same then wouldn't it be boring?
