Well thought out design --- Really like the column for the electric and lines. The only surprise is that they didn't build a sometimes shower in the door space. Outdoor is good for hot weather, but on crappy days, that doorway could be put into use.

Nice conversion! The only thing that pops out. Is doing the rear door differently. I'd make it to open up fully. Using the bottom solid non opening part as well. Maybe a half and half or an overlapping top over bottom. It would give you an added rear deck area. Then you could put a rap around bug screen. Aka: rear balcony.

At this couple's age, most would be renting an apartment, have a car each, rack up hours per week driving to jobs that they hate, not eat properly & have very little quality time together or for themselves. Chances are that they'd be paying off a massive SUV & a macho V8 pick-up truck with a combed fuel usage of maybe 15mpg. Both cars would need to be registered, insured & have provision for overnight parking at their rental apartment. By contrast, this smart couple's lifestyle makes a lot of sense. Each day is a leisurely adventure taking them to new site-seeing spots, or enjoyable overnight stays. Timetables are a thing of the past, there's no dress code or workplace bitching & are free all the hassles that thrust onto most.

Torque Lift steps. 4:21 They paid $36k for box truck and $20k for build. 4:57 Steps to get up to roof fold flat. 5:16 Removed roll up door and built hinged door on gas struts. They built the door out of fiberglass panels laminated to plywood core with a welded steel frame. Draw latches inside lock the door. 11:56 Interesting slats used to fill space between dinette seats to make king size bed. (Slats could be easy to stow vs sheets of plywood.) 12:28. Raised floor under dinette for storing shoes. 12:38. More slats used instead of plywood sheets for under dinette seats storage. Allows air flow too. 14:13. 600 watts of solar on roof plus roof vent fan.

The mail question is a good one. I have wondered that too. I imagine they would pay taxes in the state where the vehicle was registered? Its a very pretty build though. And people have commented about the lack of shower, but she says that they plan to add an outdoor shower.

You don’t have to have a shower to clean yourself. Just need a bowl of water , soap, and a washcloth. Also, truck stops have showers.

So Glad You Consciously Decided To Do This While You Were Young. I was raised by parents who "brainwashed" us to think: College, Job, House, Maybe Marriage, Retire. Money was put toward retirement. Guess what? The BODY does whatever it wants. I retired early and will start to live the small RV life in about one year. BUT, I have arthritis.Toe(s), knee, and ankle pain. [I won't let it hold me back!!] My only fear for anyone out there living this life style: How will you ever be able to live in the "real" world?
