Today I’m joined by Gerry O'Connor, one of my all time favourite banjo players!
Gerry is touring with The Dublin Legends and Joe Bonamassa at the minute and this year at the Fleadh, was awarded the Mike Flanagan Award for Outstanding Achievement in Banjo. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy!
I’ve been a fan of Gerry and his playing for years, always great to sit down and play a couple of tunes together!

Love this recording. Often these TOTM recordings are played lightning fast. Obviously both musicians here are completely capable of playing this twice as fast as they are in this recording but I appreciate that they slowed it down.

I'll try and learn it as soon as I can, but....menawhile, as I was trying to pick up few notes here and there while listening to the video, the Road to Lisdoonsvarna jumped out from my fingers...and sort of made a nice harmony to Killavil Jig :)
