thank you for pointing this out, it's not just me, "one of the best songs ever written" I'm not just thinking personal effect, but many objective metrics, it just blows my mind like magic. Being the only act on the bill, it was advertised as 'An Evening with Elton John'. He was the biggest Rock/Pop act in the world. As you might guess, it was incredible. I have seen almost 1000 concerts. Seeing Elton just by himself (no band with him) in the mid 90's in Portland, Oregon was one of the top 3 shows ever. 20,000 fans just mesmerized. If ever there was an angelic voice, I would like to hear as I drift off to heaven it would be Eltons.

Yes, I saw Elton in 1993. Half the show solo, and for the second half he was joined by percussionist Ray Cooper, who was fantastic. Elton opened with "Your Song," just him and his piano, and I just remember it was pure ear candy to hear! His piano sounded so wonderful as it began to be amplified through the pavilion's sound system.

That Portland show was amazing. My buddy bught 2 front row seats and invited me. I can only look back now and think of how lucky I was to see that show. Love Elton John! I remember this song was playing on the car radio, my Dad was driving and we were going to my cousin's house. His wife had passed away to Breast cancer . Makes me think of that day.
