The 12 lakh IT exemption that Modi gave through the budget was his way to denigrate freebie culture of kejriwal and the ilk as Modi was opposed to freebie culture. The voters they would get better returns through the budget besides the freebie.

If Modi was really anti-freebie, why is he giving free ration to 80 crore people and extending it indefinitely? PM-Kisan gives ₹6,000 a year to farmers, Ujjwala provides free LPG connections, and PM Awas Yojana builds houses for free or at huge subsidies. Before elections, BJP announces free cylinders, loan waivers, and direct cash transfers just like other parties. So, what’s the difference? They just call their freebies "welfare" and others’ "revdi culture." If freebies are bad, why not stop them? Truth is, Modi isn’t against freebies-he just brands them differently to sound smarter.
