In Madurai I used see a cart with slogans praising Tipu and that person looked like a very much down trodden and wondered who would be this. In Dindigul near Madurai, there is a Mani Mandapam for both father and son it's on entrance of the city that place name is Begumpur. This memorial was built during Jayalalitha Amma's time. But she was gone before she inaugurate this, opened by her successor. Recently heard Jeyamma's family also one of them who got butchered by the Tipu in Melakkottai. So her ancestors pain made her to go through the painful end of her life. 😢. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Nice conversation with Vikram Sampathji. His indepth study on Tippu is amazing. Being Kannadiga, I was not aware of many of these facts. Grossly, I only know that he was a cruel man and was against Hindus. Incidences like, killing of Nairs of Kerala, Malabar conversions, Killing of Kodavas of Coorg, killing of Melukote Iyyangaras is widely known. I have also seen the entire mega serial of Tippu Sulthan. I use to curse Sanjay Khan for defaming our Maharaja Odeyar. But, the ecosystem was favorable to them and they showed what they intended to. All our liberals in our present government who paint Tippu as a patriat and a freedom fighter should read this book.

33:26 - Tipu was like the ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi. There’s a reason Tipu is so revered in Pakistan. His goal was to establish his religious rule and convert all the Kafirs. This is why “seculars” love Tipu too, and portray him as a hero instead of telling everyone the truth about his nature and his rule over Mysore.

Excellent book Will buy it.. Almost all Malabar Nairs hate him like anything. Some Congi and Commi Nairs who looks for political positions only hold him in high esteem. Tippus fatwa against Nairs was 'Any Nair found with a sword can be immediately beheaded'. Nairs were actual kshatriyas - soldiers - who were experts in martial arts Kalarippayatt. After prolonged Tipu rule the martial art Kalaris were closed down. The British fearing revolt also did not allow it to open.

Tippu Sultan committed the same amount of Atrocities which Aurangzeb did. Marathas used to defeat him and Hyder Ali in multiple battles. The South at that time wasn’t united. The Atrocities which Tippu Sultan did against Hindus was recorded in Multiple History Texts. He actually got defeated by the Kingdom of Travancore in Central Kerala. He fell into a ditch and almost died there. He was carried away back to Mysore. The Travancore Soldiers spared his life after the atrocities he committed in Northern Kerala aka Malabar. That was just plain stupid. On top of that He wasn’t fighting the British for Freedom. He was fighting the British to establish his Islamic Sultanate in the South.
