I agree that luffy changed many things for good, but few of them would have happened with or without him being involved

Nami would be super depressed because the money for paying the village would get stolen. I doubt Sanji and the other cooks would hold still while a bunch of pirates take away the Baratie, and I don't think Sanji alone was match for Krieg (unless Krieg is weaker than the subordinate Sanji fed and then lost against). Actually, Drum might resist Wapol's arrival. I'm positive that Chopper, Dalton and Kureha are able to fight back against wapol and Chessmarimo. Crocodile would eventually arrive to the phoneglyph chamber, Robin would lie to her (as she wouldn't actually tell him the real information) and he would kill her in rage. And the supernova thing... that's not a bad idea, but those crews are more like actual pirate crews, a lot of "weak" guys instead of few strong ones. So, if we say that only the captain stands a chance, I would say that only Law, Kidd, Drake and Capone could make it through Thriller Bark, but none of them would made it through Enies Lobby (The CP9 were all really strong, and they needed an army just to make it to the island)

Let's just be honest, if Garp wanted to capture Luffy, he could easily do so without breaking a sweat, especially pre-time skip. It just shows that despite all the objections, all he wants is for Luffy to success and happy.

Ace in this scene reminds me of my brother. He always stands in front of me no matter who is trying to hit me. He was my younger brother, but he would keep saying, "NO, you will not touch my sister." I don't think I can fathom losing him. Luffy is stronger than most because he is able to keep going even after everything.

All you can do is raised them right and hope for the best. There will always come a time when they choose their own paths. Things never turned out the way Garp wanted. Ace ended up following Whitebeard and Luffy becoming an Emperor. Both would have made great marines, but Garp was proud of them both regardless.

The more I learned about the Whitebeard Pirates, the more I realized why the WG wanted the Marines to fight Pirates: not because they were a harm to the civilians (some, like the Whitebeard Pirates, were actually better peacekeepers and protectors of many islands) - but because their existence was a challenge to the superiority of the WG.
