Dáíl suspended after this almighty shouting match

The Healy Rae brothers were on their feet this afternoon after a row broke out with Fianna Fáil TD Marc McSharry over speaking time.
Holding up laminated plastic posters with numbers on it (used to indicate who can speak when), the three TDs had an almighty shouting match which could be heard down the halls of Leinster House.
The angry scenes were sparked after Danny Healy Rae raised the issue of the programme for government committing to protect farmers. Michael Healy Rae indicated that he wanted to share speaking time and stood up to speak, which McSharry appeared to object to.
This was followed by loud shouting from the benches, with McSharry telling the House that the same people get to speak all the time.
There was finger pointing and shouting, which resulted in the Leas Ceann Comhairle Pat “the Cope” Gallagher trying his best to calm proceedings.

I never thought I'd say this, but after reading the transcript of this argument......I actually have sympathy for the Healy Rae brothers. McSharry's initial comment to them was out of order. Beyond that you can argue they over-reacted and they didn't behave in keeping with our expectations of TD's in the Dail, but McSharry's comments throughout (in the transcript) were not appropriate.

Neither Healy Rae believes in climate change. Both also believe the world is flat. Or at least that it's no older than 10,000 years anyway. I'm no fan of McSherry who was a gobshite in this case but Danny and Micheal have no ability to see beyond their own small constituencies which is why Kerry is falling apart in terms of infrastructure. They care about the farmers and the pubs. No surprise as one is a farmer and the other is a publician. Which is all well and good but with talks of Irish Rail likely axing the rail line to Tralee and Killarney in the next five years and Kerry hobbling along in terms of credible job creation, the Healy Rae's have shown that their focus is in all the wrong places. They are not taken seriously in the Dail. It will be to the detriment and loss of the 'good people in the Kingdom'.
