I am really loving this season. These authentic and important conversations are needed because they are so relatable but so rare. I also wish you would have touched, even vaguely about sex after childbirth as it is among the pressure points and also a very tense conversation to have. From a woman feeling touched out, to the hormonal fluctuations and alienation from your body because of the changes you've gone through to a man being very eager about the 6 week mark and the contraceptive conversation. I also definitely understand the need to separate certain aspects of your life from the pod. But thank you both for this space, the fun and important conversations and the Joyous Ride you give us every week. Blessings 🙌

I love this episode. Watching all the way from ireland. I love your level of handling issues. You guys are really mature. Wanjiru you are great . In the earlier episodes when you guys talked about kids wanjiru was very scared for sure. But you didn't need to be cause you are doing a great Job. I have a last comment...I think you guys are shy around sex conversations. You struggle with what's to consider private or public. I respect your stand on it. I just wish you could still talk about it in depth. Not the act but just have depth conversations about it when questions around it come up. Loved the episode alot

Keep being yourselves; you’re inspiring people to aim for love that’s built on friendship and understanding. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Hi Ben and Wanjiru..I really enjoyed the show. Am from Embu..I agree with Wanjiru.i was named after my grandma's 'trait'..she loves cooking so I was named Murugi, instead of her original name.. Hey Ben and Wanjiru, for the naming part my husband and I agreed way before having kids that we would not name after our parents.My husband is Kalenjin and I'm Kikuyu, we agrred that our children will have their own name without any influence from both our cultures so we settled on 2 English names for our 3 children.

I expect my kids to name me and/or my spouse if and when the traditional order calls for it. I will be COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY OFFENDED if they do not and NO! I DO NOT NEED THERAPY. Will I continue to love them? Yes. Will I love my grandchildren? Yes. Will I be offended? Yes.

N I used to be moody na makasiriko hazikuwa zinaisha. Sahi my twins are two years na I'm grateful that I'm still sane n married😂. You guys will be good very soon, they grow really fast. Wanjiru, it's well mama. .

In the original kikuyu traditions, it was wrong to name your child directly after somebody. Ideally everyone had 2 kikuyu names and you would choose the one they don't actively use(not on the birth cert or ID)
@jackiekaki9026Ай бұрын
Embu people don't name directly as wanjiru said,you name after a trait of the one you're naming..my mum is from Embu so our middle sister is named after my shosh but not directly,just her hardworking trait..hence Wawira being her name.
@stellanjuma2780Ай бұрын
Naming is such a big issue especially from us women( kikuyu ).most times we feel like we are not considered. Wanjiru I feel you . Like if you are to name your parents you must have more than two kids. The best is to have a common agreement with your spouse.

I relate with the issue of naming, We never came into an agreement, kwanza mine stuck with the idea of the child will have the full name of his Dad .i.e no changing even the first name, yaani 5yrs down the line sijawahi kubali kijana wangu anaitwa "Peter" . Soo old school and the way nowadays I see fancy fancy Kids names

Wanjiru is right that Embu (and Meru) tribes do not give the exact name of the parent, but give the trait of the grandparent/namesake. For instance, Mukami would be someone whose grandma liked milking/was a dairy farmer. Karimi, would be a farmer/the grandmother liked digging. Mugambi, would be a child named after someone who is a judge or good at solving cases/conflicts.

Naming Follow kikuyu culture with the traditional name then pick a maasai or swahili equivalent for my parent's name as the first name. Everyone is happy
@j.omondi5826Ай бұрын
On the naming part, my parents passed when I was fairly young and I was taken in by my aunt and uncle who raised me as their own. So the way I see it, I have six parents total: my late parents, my aunt and uncle who I see as my mum and dad and my lovely in-laws. So my husband and I decided we were not going to name our children after any of them because we don't plan to have six kids. Personally, I've always preferred my child to be named after values or positive traits I admire hoping they too will live-up to the name

As me, I have a big issue with naming kids after anyone. I am millennial and my parents never named their first 2kids after any of their parents ( my sisters are 40 for context) only 1 bro is named after our grandpa and we are 7kids) I honestly don't like it, in a fun twist I got married into a family that names kids after uncles, great grandparents etc
