This song means so much to me. On the night before my dads funeral I hadn’t slept at all, and I had been replaying so many precious memories the two of us shared in my head. Before i knew it it was 7 am and time to start getting dressed for the service. I was having a really hard time keeping it together. I decided to listen to some music to help distract me. I grabbed my dads favorite hoodie (it smelled like him) and I buried my face in it and hugged it. and in that moment this song started playing and it’s just brought tears to my eyes. i started swaying back and forth to the rhythm and the words. It felt like I was having a final dance with my daddy, almost as if he was saying don’t cry for me because I’m gone, Smile that I’m not in pain anymore, I’m a peace.

Sadly, anthropologically, happy songs come from sadness and hardship. Love songs come from the brokenhearted, and songs about peace comes from a war/crime ridden areas. Knowing that, it makes the happy songs to hit me more. I can only imagine the hardship of the songwriter of this song. Less than a handful of songs affect me in my 50 years of life (47 of which I’m surrounded by music), but this song is at the top of my list.

It is a thing and almost the only single thing I have experienced that brought me a relief from chronic depression and also ptsd. when the accompaniment adds somes words and he reaches his hands up and they both thank life for joy and also pain well it spoke to me. It also relieved 12 years of decrepid and dark soul shredding experiences and there is a tiny light inside me I am finding after more than a decade of terror. Just what I needed. Contentment comes in the joy of The Lord. This song had to be inspired by Philippians 4:11 "..., I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances." Abba Father is teaching me and helping me to be content in where my life is at for now. After 4 years for much sickness, pain and surgeries, my husband passed away one year ago. I am in much physical and emotional pain, I have partial dissabilities and not able to do much. I just had to force my youngest, adult abusive son to leave my home, who caused much trouble for me and his older brother who also lives with me. My oldest son also lives in constant pain in his back and feet, yet still keeps working. Yea, though He slay me, yet will I praise Him! (The book of Job). Thanks for this song I will keep singing.
