Average risk fan: - Puts troops in Australia when someone has already claimed it - Gets suicided into but gets good dice - Slams his stack into the person who also is all in on Australia - Breaks Pete and Pete’s alliance - Rejects alliance - Fucking dies Average Pete enjoyer: - First one to take a bonus - Tries to be good neighbours with everyone - Laughs like a maniac while murdering his enemies Great game Pete! That white kill honestly made me so happy… I hate players like that… Keep up the great work!

Risk is very much like poker. While all that nonsense was happening with pink in the 3 player endgame I bet they were like "I'm doing great! I have the most territory and they aren't hitting me back much!"... Like in poker when someone does something super dumb and just wins anyway and you tell them they did something wrong and they're just like "I got the chips"... But in the end the Reaper comes for us all... Pete is the Reaper. This gave me hope.

It very much is. At the highest level it's a psychological game. Assuming sufficient technical ability playing the other players is the skill.

can anyone explain to me what the slider is for and why you wouldnt just use 100%? and why austrailia is so bad? from what Im seeing in Petes videos is you can defend it easily but the problem is they never leave for better opportunity

I have a yt short on the slider. Australia is good in a vacuum. It's bad in context because people end up fighting over it which usually ends up costing way more than +2 a turn...

I'm pretty salty about screwing up my tournament. I was about to take a 2nd bounty for 5 cards and I notice I messed up a split. I had another 50 troops to spare but I split just 5 off my main stack for England and Wales because I thought I didn't need to split between those two. Cost me a bounty, 5 cards, my position in the tied 3-player endgame and my whole tournament most likely. He had only 1 troop left. I had fed the kill on him and before I could set again another player fed my kill (which in contrast they didn't have whatsoever, not even close they were way off - eventually it took the both of them 2 turns to finish me off). The player taking advantage of getting fed 2 kills? A high ranked GM that wasn't supposed to be in there in the first place! He was admin but filled in for a no show and ended up taking 1st with 4 bounties because of it. Sure it was my own mistake... I hate caps and don't like 60s turns but I should have just been more decisive and focused on garuanteeing the kill. However, had that player had been a bot like we should have had i probably would have still been in the tourney despite my mistake. I know a next time I won't accept a top player just jumping into the game like that. And hopefully I'll be more conscious of the 60s and hurry tf up while splitting correctly. I wonder how those 21 points will be allocated... He was probably just scheduled for another game... So his 21 points go to no-one? I don't get how we got here.
@TheKillPeteStrategy

Yeah with a staff fill in the points don't count. I'm sorry to hear it went that way brother. We all have our bad beats. Hopefully we learn from them.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy I see now how my emotions got the better of me and how I sound like a whining little b&#%. Thanks for not roasting me and showing compassion nonetheless. ❤️💯 I will learn from this... yeah my 20 points weren't enough in the end and it was close but it is what it is. I learned more than just how to split in the UK (I mean Ireland and Wales btw, my b) on Europe advanced. I learned how to play prog caps, how I dislike those settings, how a tournament setting will affect my nerves and how I have a serious issue with being too indecisive on 60s setting. I will hopefully be a better player for it. Thank you for the inspiration 🔥👏⚔️🤘

All good. There is a sense of justice or the notion that one player somehow 'deserves' the win over another. All I try to do in these circumstances is I weigh 'deserve' against the outcome. Outcomes simply are, one's deserving of that outcome only concerns itself with two things IMO, what occurred, and whether what occured was legal.

Then aren’t philosophers as self interested as politicians? Paid by someone else to no more than stroke the thoughts that ultimately are attributed to their own narcissism?
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy Жыл бұрын
All people are self interested. So that isn't a flaw, it is our nature. What do we do with that? My hope would be to design systems to benefit all people. The current system benefits a tiny fraction at the expense of everyone else. I imagine we can make that fraction larger. If you think philosophy is masturbatory narcissism then you're listening to the wrong philosophers.
@JamesWells3
@JamesWells3 Жыл бұрын
@@TheKillPeteStrategy no disagreement there, and I do agree that there are philosophers worth digesting. My point is more directed towards the fact they often live more off of charity than their contributions to society
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy Жыл бұрын
@@JamesWells3 it's something to dig into for sure. I have many issues with the way academic philosophy is expressed, or at least was when I was in school. Which is why I never sought a post graduate degree. I couldn't even name a person alive today who would self identify as a philosopher doing public work accessible to the lay person, and I think that's a bad thing.

Pete's views are not completely incorrect with politicians being an issue but just doing a phone poll or a vote online would not work besides bad actors the inaccessible for people or inability to take time to vote would be bad for everyone. Eventually once his method is tested out it turns into "well if not everyone can vote every time they can select a proxy" which is what representative democracy is about. We are unfortunately not yet at the point where the rich cannot out control the poor through any type of direct representation except for in your local town or neighborhood government. Any population over a few thousand needs representation to function an large scale with some input
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy Жыл бұрын
I would be interested to develop a system that would test what enfranchised and informed groups voting on issues rather than people looks like. I would be interested in even bringing that conversation to public consciousness which it is not.
@RomanBelisarius
@RomanBelisarius Жыл бұрын
I don't know, Switzerland has this direct democracy system? (They have a government with reps sure but most issues/policies are passed by referendum/direct ballot, which do have precedence/supremacy over representatives/parliament's say). The oft pronounced counterargument is this is unfeasible for large nations by population and area like the US but I'd say why not at least do/test it on the (still much larger than a few thousand, more like few million pop) local/state/province levels then, as these levels surely have as much population as Switzerland's ~8 million
