Well played Pete. It always seems better to cap on the weak side of the map when blizzards are on. 9 times out of 10 there will be 3-4 caps fighting over the strong area. I bet you are glad white placed his cap there in the end :D

Well played and only white or purple or pink could taken your cap since blue and black where fighting each other for the 2 big bonusses in the right under section. Pink was on look out there so is higher chance pink doesn't go for your cap. White wanna be safe with the capital so you are safe from him too. So the only player was purple and this player didn't know that your cap was empty for sure. So that was mind trick to the players ingame. If black (Finis) didn't get broken by blue i think he had taken your cap. So after all this game worked out for you. You played very well with the capitals and was awesome to see Pete grabbing many points.

Why the hate for caps? I've never played caps so I just honestly have no idea about it

The caps get a defensive bonus and you need a roughly 3 to 1 troop advantage to take one. The amount of troops it costs to take a cap is so much of a sink that it doesn't actually make strategic sense to take one (essentially a pyrrhic victory). It is therefore in your best interests NOT to hit a cap and the mode therefore actively encourages stalemates that generally go on for hours and hours.

I liked how all the strategies come together: taking calculated risk in using fog early at turn 1 to leave your cap unguarded to gain an early bonus, forging a one turn alliance so you can get your bonus and then betray at the right time since its in your best interest to do so - decisive action- , cleverly hiding white so you get the bounty, displayed good understanding of the flow of the game and correctly guessing the enemies probable plans in the fog, forging ahead at the right moments, and that your starting choice even though it wasn't what you thought was ideal turned out to be the best course. Nice job.

Hiding white was huge too because it led to pink breaking blue in search of white’s bounty. Pink thought blue didn’t finish the job and never even realized Pete was hiding him. It worked out perfectly.

The reason behind the easy win: All other caps were on the other side. Going last can often be helpful. You are not at the mercy of someone after you placing a cap poorly or inside you.
