I’ll say it again. The altum Angelfish and sveni look absolutely stunning in the 2000 G. Great decision to move them from the 16 ft.

For future fish, I'd love to see a school of Pictus catfish (or any pimelodus) in a tank this size! If you're feeling bold, a Flagtail Prochilodus would be an amazing centerpiece fish. IME, they rarely target smaller fish despite their size, and my tank wasn't nearly as big as yours when I had mine.
@Badfish2773 күн бұрын
Excellent pick. Congos are my all time favorite. All of my larger community tanks have no less than 8 in each tank
@zwilnik3 күн бұрын
For big, colorful SA tetras, I'd say Buenos Aries. Mine are like 3" after a couple years growth (they've been that size a couple more years after growing out.) Pretty nice green with reddish fins. Not a showy as the geophagus, but pretty nice.
@seangell3 күн бұрын
Buenos Aries are a nice decent size one - can be bullies and fin nippers - I've got 2 left and they've been put in their place as cichlids and angelfish grew but I am pretty sure when I had more they bullied one angelfish to its demise and fin nipped the other one. In Joey's tank this would probably be less of a problem as a. There is space and b. The altums are already decent size but I would be worried for the congo's. Almost certain my 2yo congos were put out of place by them too, especially the fin nipping and while the congo's survived for some time after, it was within about a year that the 8 had were dying one by one...

Congo tetras will looks awesome! If you are ever visiting Vancouver Island you should stop by! I've got several aquariums, though smaller, one with a bonded pair of oscars (Oscar and Libby, regular and leutistic). They've paid eggs a couple times but haven't been successful in hatching them. They are hilarious together! I don't know what I'd do with that many babies.

I would've kept it South American and used Colombian tetras and Diamond tetras. They both get pretty large and deep bodied so would not likely end up as prey and much better looking than Congos IMO. For large fish, if you feel you have good Oxygen saturation I would recommend Retroculus lapidifier, if not then Satanoperca daemon.

You should add some Plecos... L75, L25, L24, L273, L95, L200, L27, L190, L330 or L600 some nice big plecos give a stunning Orange, Red, green, Golden yellow and so much more colour (L numbers just for exsample), Could perhaps add a school of Corydoras To swim along the buttom.. (if you can get your hands on L95 and L75 you will have a high chance for them to be ready when foods get added) :)

There are a lot of South American tetra that can fit in your aquarium, I will give you 4 examples 1) Colombian tetra (Hyphessobrycon columbianus) 2) Chalceus (Tetragonopterus chalceus) 3) Cruzeiro do Sul (Hemiodopsis gracilis) 4) Tetra Olho de Fogo (Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae) I think those fishes you can find easily in Canada .
@emileebacon94223 күн бұрын

Joey I think you’d really like having Rope fish yes they are in the bichir family BUT BUT they’re beyond friendly and peaceful (I pretty sure since those fish are larger than the rope fishes mouth they’ll be perfectly fine.) I have my two in with some Cory cats and two species of upside down catfishes one which is 10 inches at a few years old. Got a few other species of fish in that tank but point is the rope fish is a good addition to your planted community tanks

You could totally get south ameican tetras as big or bigger than Congo tetras with a little effort. Brycons and lizard tetras for example. Oliver Lucianus at Bellow Water could certainly provide you with some options.

Toucan fish or pink tail characin would cool in there. Or a shoal of dusky narrow hatchet fish if you can get them.

Personally would have gone for a mix of Columbian tetra (Hyphessobrycon colombianus), Buenos Aires tetra (Psalidodon anisitsi), Diamond tetra (Moenkhausia pittieri). To really hang about to surface, if you can get them, Giant hatchet-fish (Thoracocharax securus) they max at around 9cm (3.5").

Love the Congos! I'm excited to see such a large school in there. I had 9 in my 40g, then 75g community, and they were stunning! Are denison Barbs South American? I think a handful of those would look fantastic darting around in there. They wouldn't get too big to take away from the larger fish, but are also a bit bigger than the Congos.
