Welcome to episode one of TKOR n' Chill. A special curated compilation of classic TKOR content all in one place, allowing you to kick back, watch, and chill. Over the years we've put out so much content which can make it difficult to navigate, so we wanted to make it a little easier to find videos on one specific topic by putting them in one place. Have idea for a future TKOR n' Chill topic? Drop it below. Now kick back by a roaring fire and enjoy!

When using the firebricks, I would suggest lining the whole outside of the bucket with K-wool blanket, then put the firebrick in tightly, maybe split the blanket so everything fits tightly, then fill in the gaps, there’s a product called water glass that’s made for glueing K-wool and firebrick together, I use this method quite a bit when I rebuild chambers in boilers, water glass isn’t easy to work with, but it works well.

the one part ya'll don't touch on is how to build the burners, that is the part that gave me the most headache. things like what type of regulator you need (high output, not just any regulator will work) the size of the orifice for the gas port (found somewhere that said size 0.030 MIG tips work well for propane) these are the things I would like see covered please.

I did a backyard foundry... I suggest using ceramic wool, a 5-gallon bucket, and ITC-100 clay slurry brushed into it liberally. It insulates better and is more refractory. I also used steel pipe with a cap welded on the bottom.

In the past you've changed the density of wood with water in a vacuum chamber. Could you try that with metals/alloys with a melting point under 300° C (the burning point of wood) try little wood sculptures and what not. Just a heating plate a pot and vacuum chamber

Put the crucible back in the forge after you use it rather than letting it cool at room temperature. let it cool with the forge to avoid thermal shock. Also store your crucible in air Tite container. to avoid moisture which will shorten thew life. Also, It is advised to bring crucible up to 4 0r 500 degrees and let cool before the first use. If you take care of crucible last for exceptionally long time.

Without refractory on the ceramic wool, those fibers will go airborn and get into your lungs. Think about a stabilizer at the very least. You also have to worry about vaporizing that zinc off the metal which is also very toxic.
