I remember the "Merry Go Round" in Asbury Park. I roder it many times! I have tried to correct people who tell me it was a "Carousel." Here is evidence, even thought the big sign saying "Merry Go Round" is for the ride in Ocean Grove.

There were two carousels in Asbury Park, the one in the Casino building and the one in Palace Amusements. We were trying to buy the casino one, but the real estate developer Henry Vaccaro wouldn't wait for us to raise the money. He broke it up and sold the individual horses. Such a waste.

I grew up there, and we always called it a Merry-Go-Round. I loved catching the brass rings on the Palace Amusements one.
