Carol Camp.I had the same thought initially. I imagine they are the China clay workings near St Austell. The remnants of them can still be seen. I was there earlier this year.

Those pyramids are near St Austell,one has a flag on the top.I pass them on the way down to charlestown.

Thanks for posting this. I made my first trip to Cornwall last month, stayed in Charlestown and done the coast walk to there from mevagissey. Fantastic scenery in the whole area, can't wait to go back 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Why? No antibiotics, low life expectancy, no NHS, few private toilets, no central heating, high unemployment, expensive food and clothing - and not much of it.Life for most people was really tough.

Even then there was a wealthy family touring round with what must have been a very expensive camera. Cornwall has always been the playground of the rich lol.

The topography doesn't look all that different now. Its interesting that the women are quite fat, compared to old footage on KZbin from the Edwardian era. I wonder what happened to people's diets between the beginning of the century and the 1930s.
